Is this the same kind of enquiry we made about Martin O'Neill as manager before bringing Pulis back? Jason Roberts it is then. H

since when have we ever advertised our intent to sign a player. It's either a smokescreen to hide our real targets, or perhaps a tool to signal our seriousness to other potential targets. Chances of him being pictured with a Stoke scarf any time soon are slim me thinks.

I would have more respect if Tony came out and said yes we have inquired about RVN,he needs to be playing regular to get into the world cup squad, we can offer him that,on that thought so does M. Owen, how about them two up front for Stoke, that would send out a positive message to all Stoke fans......but thats not a word Tony is familiar with.....

I'd much prefer to hear we weren't buying RVN and then see him arrive, rather than hear about all our transfer targets and be disappointed to get none of them!

TP imho would be stupid to say Stoke are after this player or that player - its only going to alert other clubs & therefore harm our chances of signing the player.

Don't think it really matters in this case, I would wager that every single premier league club is aware of his situation, it's probably why Coates is being so candid .

good call Serps
also it seems very few prem clubs (including some of the big boys) have any £££ at the moment so the field maybe quite small

619......you don't know what a happy clapper is......for you its fans that clap everytime an intended pass to one of our players goes out or to the opposition and say unlucky no matter how many times they do it,clap when a cross goes behind the goal, clap when Sidibe misses yet another chance infront of goal.....are you beginning to get it now.

PC, you could enquire about Jesus himself playing upfront, but if you dont enquire about someone worthwhile to play in the middle to feed him the ball, then it wont make much difference now will it ??

Peter Coats is a wanker. Tony tries his best to keep the clubs business out of the limelight until it's a done deal then you've got coates who goes shouting about transfers to the world. What an idiot.
Didn't he do the same thing with Owen?

Perhaps, the scenario is that Stoke are after Player A, but we know that Player B (RVN) is available and would never come to Stoke because bigger teams would go for him. So Coates says we are interested in Player B (RVN) all the other premiership teams try to hi-jack this move but really our intent is to get Player A, who now no one but us is looking at, becza\use they switched their intentions to RVN.
Just a thought, honestly I really dont know how the transfer market works, and the reason for that is because I am just a supporter
