probably something to do with the attitude of players who "change" in season #2. Rest on their laurels a bit and think they've "done it"
You can see that our siege mentality has changed, difficult to motivate the same personnel to do that twice I suspect, which is why a change of staff is essential.

Well despite the problems he has done a sterling job so far. To think about how we were 4 years ago, debating whether Pulis could keep us in the Championship. Its been a crazy 4 years and I think that we may just establish ourselves as a mid table Premiership team for the next decade.
Coates and Pulis' shrewd business has put us in an enviable position and we may just turn into a fashionable club. Either way, we are financially stable, should the unthinkable occur and for that I am grateful! Tony Pulis and Peter Coates, I doff my cap. Keep up the good work, you're making me a proud Stoke City fan in South Wales!

Wonder who he spoke to about it in particular?
Two who went down in the second season? Burley - Ipswich? Coppell - Reading?
Or two that stayed up? Who managed that?

I agree, andy, but don't think it's just the attitude of the players. The siege mentality has arguably been lost on the terraces to some extent, too. Especially at the Brit.

Gary Megson and Peter Reid at a guess... and Arry got through second season syndrome at Pompey, didn't he? As for the things Tone can say at the end of the season, I bet he's too diplomatic when it comes down to it, he generally is. But I think it's got to be a couple of real major ego battles.

Would any of our fans dreamt of booing the team last season? Every game was a cup final. We were favourates to lose every game now we are favourates to win most home games at least. If we had been 10th last Jan all of us would have been over the moon but we were not we were in trouble and we had the siege mentality. Right or wrong it is the norm for football! Our expectations are up and so are the players (they are only human) they believe their own hype. It's a transition period and a tricky one!

Coppell would have been the one to ask he looked destroyed by the whole experience

Fans Expectations Bias against Stoke from officials Egos Complacency within the team i'll go with the 2nd point, he has certainly not been happy with some of the decisions we have not had this season.
