Cort and Shawcross are quite similar.
Shawcross can play a bit more but he isn't in the same category as Higgo for reading a game (like a sweeper)
Simmo is a great shot stopper but fairly poor at crosses. This has always been the case.
The more football you watch, you see that the decision making for crosses is what sets the top keepers apart.
Yes, there are better keepers and his indecision may cost us more goals but until we find a better keeper then I don't worry too much about Simmo - he has served us well.

Simonsen benefitted massively from two commanding centre halfs in Higg & Doobs last season. They were solid and more importantly talked to Simmo and the backline throughout. I think in Cort and Shawcross we have two excellent centre halves, but they are not commanders. This has led to confusion in the box and Simonsen has not come out when he should of a lot of the time. This needs to be sorted either by bringing in a commanding centre half to replace one of Cort/Shawcross (unlikely), or by bringing in a confident, commanding keeper who can organise his defence better than Simmo does at the present (this being the more likely considering the excellent contribution the back two have added).
Anyway! This is a minor problem considering we've only lost 2 of the last 18 games.
