If TP does not manage to sign a quality Centre mid who can put his foot on the ball and pick a pass how about moving Liam into the centre.
Before you all tear my head off, he has a good engine, ability on the ball, great at picking a pass out, can hold it up and is the best crosser of the ball in the club. He cannot however beat a man on the wing like Matty so move him in and buy a right winger.
Lou did it with Gleghorn to great effect

I would prefer an established quality centre midfielder to be brought in - but agree it's a possibility to use lenny he couldnt be any less creative than diao, delap or even whitehead and apart from v brum he is usually more consistent than whelan.

.....he can't beat his man on the wing like...But Delap,Whitehead can when played there...i don't think so!!!
Until we sign a new quicker younger right-winger then Lawrence MUST be at right-wing as anyone else will make us be as wank as before.

sorry jarhead i didnt make myself clear - i should have said lenny couldnt be less creative than diao, delap or whitehead when played in a centre midfield role not right wing role.
i agree delap or whitehead should not be played on the wing, lenny is best wing option until we get better wing replacement. lenny could be centre midfield option if we are unable to buy an established quality prem centre midfielder.

I noticed a few instances against Blues where Liam moved in to centre mid, and it ended up being Whitehead charging down the right hand side instead of him.
I think it can be done, putting LL in the centre, but with Pulis' cage mentality in the centre midfield area, i think we need an out and out winger like Pennant or someone.
This does however mean it exposes the fullbacks to attacks, as i have never seen Pennant do any defensive work, i wouldn't want be comfortable having Wilko having to make three or four desperate tackles per game, due to a lack of cover by the right midfielder (however much Wilko has improved).
