Cracking news!! Cort relieved at scan all-clear Cort was carried off at Preston but could be fit to face QPR (Getty) Stoke City's Leon Cort has not broken his ankle, as first feared. The former Crystal Palace defender was stretchered off during the second half of the defeat at Preston, but a scan has revealed it was just bad bruising. Cort told BBC Radio Stoke: "When I landed on it I thought I was out for the season, it hurt that much, but when I went inside the pain eased off. "I'm so relieved and should be ok to play against QPR. I want to be part of this battle to the end of the season." news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/stoke_city/7267498.stm

Not being funny here, but the bloke went off like he had some kind of real season ending injury. In fact, Delap didn't get the intensive treatment that Cort got with his double compound fracture of the tibia and fibia.
Cort really is a fairy for such big lad!

davejohnno. I'd like to see you take the kind of pain cort was obviously in. Hardly Eduardo-like but still... aren't you glad that we haven't lost him for the rest of the season.

If the pain went when he got back inside why didn't he come back on. Blame the management if you ask me. Tony Pulis, phew. Lets hope he fit for Sunday. Good luck Leon.

I just thought I'd let anyone know if the're intersted, but as I went to get my mini season ticket today at 12.15, I saw Cort going into the ground and I asked him how he was. He told me he was still very sore but was very hopefull of making it for the QPR game.
Hope this helps, and from the brief chat he seems a top bloke ;D

its great news but i can see where dave is coming from, makes cort look like a big girls bloose, i seem to remember Denis Smith breaking his leg against Ipswich many years ago and hoping off the pitch boot in hand, to shouts of run it off lad

Great news,i was more concerned about cort than the result.how people can judge the amount of pain he was in from sitting in the stand is comical.

Poor little fairy davejohnno saw Cort's first game and decided he was rubbish, since then no matter what he has done he has slagged him off, now he is hoping he is seriously injured, a sad and desperate man is Dave the fairy.

The ankle and shin area is bone under skin, with no muscle or fat to protect the bone. A kick in the thigh is not too painful as the femur is surrounded by a thick layer of muscle. However, the shin and particularly the ankle is not protected and a kick in that area is very painful indeed. I remember kicking the back of a players boot when I was passing and it caused a gash in my shin. It wasnt a deep cut but I could see the bone. Very painful I tell thee.
