You might be interested to know that Dean Crowe played about 70 minutes for Leek tonight in their 2-0 win at Market Drayton. He didn't particularly stand out, but nice to see him kicking a ball again. I'm not sure what he's been upto for the past few years, but I haven't heard him mentioned for a while. For the record, the crowd was a massive 105.

Another player that some may remember is Jamie Godbold, he was a youngster we had on the books in the late 90's and early 2000, midfielder I think. Anyway, he's captain of Lowestoft Town these days, you may know them from their decent FA Cup run this season making the 1st round proper and being edged out by Wrexham.

Godbold, I believe, is also a very good futsal player.

It is a hard game to keep everything ticking and in top form is football, attitude to fitness and form mentally is prehaps more important than knowing how to play the game itself. It seems a quick slide down the football slope once the rot sets in. These pro footballers we think have it easy but bloody hell they have to stick to tough regimes to stay at the top level....well paid mind.

I remember Dean Crowe pissed as a fart in Zanzibar one night after he'd played in a Stoke game......couldn't string two words together!!! Then again, it's better than John Dreyer who used to be seen doing exactly the same thing the night before a game lol

Dean Crowe worked at my place a couple of years ago as an electricians mate.
I'm not kidding because Ashley Wooliscroft was working with him as well. I won't name the company they were working for as i don't want no trouble like......!!

i'll never forget that day at deepdale when we were 3-1 down at half time and dean crowe had a through ball put through for him in the dying seconds, all you saw was the net go and we won 3-4 brilliant day.

I always thought Crowey was destined for greatness, he had pace and looked a natural finisher.
Despite some goal scoring heroics early on in that season I always thought he came back from pre season looking like he had bulked up massively and never looked quite as sharp as when he first broke onto the scene (even though the clinching goal at the Sixfields that day was one of the most casual strikes from the edge of a penalty area I have ever seen!)

I remember that game for a particular reason. Just before Crowe scored-fairly late on it was 2-1 - was the only time I ever actually caught the ball at a game as was right behind the goal. Their keeper ran over and gestured me to throw it to him but as we were winning I threw it as far away from him as I could onto the pitch. Couldn't quite catch what he said but he seemed to think I worked for a financial business of some kind because I sure he said I was a banker.

I also remember it vividly as my girlfriend (now wife) went and was quite shocked by Carl "the judge" Heggs giving the "v's" to us after the Stoke support gave him some stick! ;D If only she knew then the life that was ahead of her!

Yep forgot that one. Wasn't that the same game where their goal was a real tame effort that for some reason Justin Whittle instead of clearing the ball stepped over it thinking I presume it was going wide. Was a bizarre goal.

their goal was a fluke, freedman tried crossing and it somehow managed to go in off the post, although are goalkeeper was neville southall, who was about 25 stone at the time.

A couple of my mates were ex-Pros and the problem is once you slipped down the leagues the training standards drop, you then find it hard to get back to the level you were. One minute you were having everything done for you, next thing your cleaning your own training kit, before long your working on that building site.
