If Tone did go (and I sincerely hope he doesn't) , we have to ask ourselves..................who would come in? Glenn Hoddle? Nigel Pearson? Gerry Francis?

I can't see TP being sacked even if he had/has 'lost the dressing room' More chance of us seeing Coates in goal, TP in midfield and Peter Reid up front imo. that was one of our line ups in the 80's, i'm sure of it ;D

Hello all,
I'm no PHW but if he has used violence then I doubt our internal procedures would condone it. However if our internal procedures state that management discretion can be used in special circumstances and incidents then he is as safe as houses.
HR is very easy but the key thing is for the management team and the board to be CONSISTANT at all times. ie if another player was to hit a colleague then they would not be able to be dismissed if Pulis hadn't been.
There is no cut and dry reasoning it depends what is written in the CLubs procedure.

There is only one person who will suffer from this misunderstanding and he is an ex-England international forward.

I'd sack Pulis just for the way he walks. GSB (aka PHW)

i cant believe people are talking about him getting the sack because of this! peter coates will have a long chat with him and peter wont be happy but hes sensible and rational enough to know that pulis is a top manager.

I cant see Peter Coates sacking Pulis unless there was absolutely no other viable option. Not quite the same but we do already have the precedent of Fuller slapping Griffin and it being dealt with in house. So whatever actually happened at Arsenal that is what I expect to happen this time but I would note that TP has a stubborn and unforgiving nature and I don't see Beattie figuring too much in the future plans

IMO there are 3 people for SCFC remaining in the Premier League last season; Coates, Pulis and Beattie.
The club appeared to be in harmony, we started the season well, and we were playing some decent football. Then, at all started to go wrong.
Kitson started well and then has a reported rumpus, Beattie starts to find a bit of form and then has a reported rumpus. The same common denominator ------- Peter Reid.
FFS, get rid of this idiot, get the club back on track.
He is nothing but a bad influence, and if the rumours are true, suspect that somewhere he has been involved.

You'd need to read his contract... in almost any other walk of life it would be an instant sacking offence, wouldn't it? Although it's a crazy thought that Tone might have to go because of this.
I'm trying to think of precedents, it must happened plenty in private in the past, I can't believe Brian Clough didn't smack the occasional player - anyone else remember managers hitting players in the news???

If he's done what he is alledged to have done, then I couldn't argue with him being sacked, as in all walks of life thats what would happen.
Looking at it objectively then the question would be to those that are saying its ok for a manager to butt one of his staff, then whats the impact on the rest of his staff?
If the impact is loss of respect, then there will only be one outcome and thats the baseballed capped one departing as thats what will be best for Stoke City FC

IF Pulis 'butted Beattie, I would say that makes his position pretty untennable. I just hope he didn't.

You don't mess with the manager I agree but IF Pulis attacked him unprovoked ie Beattie didn't hit him first, TP's job has to be seriously looked at. You can't go around 'butting people if they question You. It's pathetic. I just hope it didn't happen or Beattie did hit him first because if he didn't TP could struggle to keep the squad on side.

put TP doesn't seem like the sort of guy who would head-butt one of his players.

This kind of attitude is typical of PHW's ''lets shoot ourselves in the foot and sack Pulis while we have the chance...'' We don't even know if it's true..FFS. hmm, maybe some of the playes are becoming PHW's !! ever thought of that ? Thank God PC is a Rimmer
