Isn't it a fact that TP is looking long term, his comments about the squad of 18 to 20 players being more important than just the starting 11, and his comments about protecting Whelan, etc means he is looking at the overall season and maybe even into next year.
Fans that are disagreeing with his selections want their favourite players to play and are looking short term and only the next game.
You can understand that, but surely the health of the club as a whole is more important than the immediate selection of any one player no matter how highly he is rated.

You can understand that, but surely the health of the club as a whole is more important than the immediate selection of any one player no matter how highly he is rated. Looking long-term? Yes, but to omit two RoI internationals, Turkey's captain and arguably a forward on the verge of the England squad two years ago is not looking long-term? I think some of the critics are right. Hard work, discipline(excepting the yellow cards), is fine but TP has admitted the lack of goals is a serious issue. So, play your defensive players but where are the goals going to come from?
