I doubt we'll be in for him James, I'm sure we're keeping tabs on lots of players, the majority of which we won't make a bid for.

Massive gamble and we'll overpay as he's English. Not worth it. Go African from Europe and we'll get twice the player for half the price.

He won't go anywhere in January.
QPR want him but Leeds are willing to take the risk of keeping him until the summer and hope he signs a new deal after helping them up.

I've said it before, but it smacks of Chris Greenacre all over again. It took Beckford nearly 2 seasons to find his feet in League 1.

Wouldn't mind him at all, you never know, he may hit it off in the Prem. At least be willing to give him a chance should there be any truth in this.
Somehow I cant see it though. Leeds seem pretty determined to keep him and I'm sure there will be others interested. Step forward Tango from Hull who will offer him £40k a week.
I don't think you can compare Beckford to Greenacre.

A wasted journey anyway for Reid as Beckford sat on the bench all night!!!

I live in Leeds and a lot of my mates say he would never cut it in the Prem - he is fine if a chance comes to him in the box or he has a split second to think but apparently he is shocking at holding up the ball with his back to goal and not much better running onto a pass...
Strange one, if he is a 'Fuller' then a 1.5m bid might be worth a gamble, not sure fo his dribbling skills though - let me mail one of my mates and I'll put his feedback on here...

If we were going to dip into the market for a lower league striker I'd personally go for Matty Fryatt!!!

Leeds' Season Ticket Holder's view as follows; Personally, I'm more than happy for him to leave. He's a very lazy player who has a bit of pace, he seems to find it hard to actually get past people recently too. He takes around 5 or 6 chances to score 1 goal, but he does get himself into the positions more often than not. The thing currently is that we're a very good team in a very average league so he's going to bang the goals in. I don't think he'd cope as well at another team as matches won't be one sided, and he doesn't like to work too much. He's the perfect description of a hot and cold player, he can't hack the big games (both play off finals and the semi final last year). I've slagged him off a lot, but the bottom line is Ian Rush couldn't play football for toffee, he just got into the positions and belted the ball in and was a hero for it.

Beckford certainly has looked the business in the last couple of seasons.
I think he will probably stay with Leeds and play in the Championship next season.
Saying that IF he joined Stoke and scored a few goals, I wouldn't say no to him!!

I don't think Beckford will score goals in the Championship, let alone up here.
And he'll cost a fortune. Leave it to the desperado's to fight it out for him.

i think he's a player worth purchasing for £2.5m and a player, but if wolves want to spunk £6m good luck to them, i hope they pay £6m for ledley too, with these two purchases for that price theyll be nicely prepared for a title shot at the championship next season.

Beckford has found his level and even there he gets caught offside all the time.
Really don't rate him!

OK then, strikers you WOULD like to see us have a sniff at (after all, Beattie is 31 and Fuller is 30)
Cameron Jerome (he'd suit us) Daniel Sturridge (he'll never get a game down there, ever.) Danny Wellbeck (he's good, and won't ever really play for United either)

Jerome might be worth a go if Brum bring in all the players they're after! Wellbeck and Sturridge would be loans at best. Fergie thinks Wellbeck might even get a chance of breaking into the England World Cup team - Stoke could have him on loan if it helped

I don't think he's good enough, but I'll probably be proved wrong. He goes missing for long periods and looks uninterested. Hell of an eye for goal, but think there is better out there for SCFC

a daniel sturridge loan would be quality, also, if we are serious about spending BIG money on a striker then why not bid for Adriano the ex inter player? he's playing back in brazil for flamengo, 6ft 3 and only 27, fast, strong and his goalscoring record speaks for itself, it seems he had a few personal problems when his dad died but has started scoring shit loads of goals again, if whu & man city were interested in 2007, why cant we be? welcome to the battersea adriano! wonder how much we could get him for? if we have BIG money to spend on a forward, he'd be # 1 on my wish list. no harm in ttesting the water if we're in a promising position in january. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adriano_Leite_Ribeiro
