We won't sell Shotton but Dicko I can see going. How much for though? I'd like to think we'd do a Cardiff and demand £2.5million for him even though he's worth about 800k.
Do You have a link to the article?

Do You have a link to the article? Just a cut and paste effort I'm afraid of one article, but there has been a bit of talk since there loan spell is coming to a close! Dickinson grateful for first-team chance Star Newspapers Published Date: 26 November 2009 By Neil Goulding STOKE City loan defender Carl Dickinson has not ruled out a permanent move to Oakwell when the transfer window reopens in January. The 22-year-old full-back has won many admirers during his time at Barnsley, as has fellow Stoke defender Ryan Shotton. But Dickinson and Shotton are due to play their last loan game for the club on Boxing Day.... The cries to sign them up seems to come from the fans and local press rather than anything official from the club. They have become big favourites with supporters though(I work with a couple of Barnsley fans) and the press have suggested that Dicko especially would like to make the move (don't know whether that is based on hard facts?)

Barnsley's form has been on a steep upward curve since Shotts and Dicko went there. Not sure how many other loanees/new signings they got at the time but no doubt both out lads have played a big part.
If Dicko wants to move in January, I would not want the club to stand in his way - I don't think he is quite up to the Premier League. £1 million would be about right, I think.
No way would I sell Shotton - each time he has been out on loan, he has stepped up a league or two (to Alty, to Tranmere and to Barnsley) he's got rave reviews and I have no doubt he'll make the step up the the Premiership in time.

Shotton isn’t a natural centre-half-looking-awkward-at-full-back player. He’ll struggle to impress Tone with his full back play, getting forward etc.

Cheers spit.
It's ashame Dicko hasn't had the run in the team Wilko has to show us what he can do. He looked the better out of the two in the Championship.

If as my Barnsley 'friends' suggest, they look a cut above other players in their league. That would suggest they could be good enough for the Premiership. Based on the logic that some of our players who didn't exactly look a cut above the rest in our championship years are now holding down regular places in our 'comfortably mid-table' premiership side!

Our Championship players are still on the majority our best players imo. And in our promotion season Dicko looked good to me in the Championship and I think he could make the step up given a run of games. Shotton should be awarded a 5 year contract asap I think.

He looked the better out of the two in the Championship. Can't agree with that to be honest, always prefered wilkinson myself and am still not convinced dickinson is ever going to be a prem quality player, I hope he proves me wrong though.

I've always liked the pair of them and have championed them both for years. But Dicko always the looked the better of the two as he played more often and was younger. And due to their being not much difference between them, that gave him the edge for me.

Dicko in the promotion season was excellent and on that alone looked better to me but I've always thought the pair of them were great.

Interesting that Dicko has had two very successful loan spells now for Barnsley and Leeds both coinciding with an upturn in each teams form. Very popular at both.

Interesting that Dicko has had two very successful loan spells now for Barnsley and Leeds both coinciding with an upturn in each teams form. Very popular at both. Yeah that is pretty interesting, I guess you probably want to look at who he was replacing! I remember that guy van homoet who was at full back for barnsley recently who was absolutely awful, not sure if he is left sided though. As for the dicko vs wilko debate, I always thought dickinson was a little bit too keen to go to ground, although the same could be said for wilko until after he got sent off against united last boxing day. The big difference for me is the composure on the ball though, again neither are andrea pirlo, but dickinson has at time looked positively terrified of the ball - watford away in the promotion season springs to mind, as does the leyton orient cup game this term. Even in the leicester home game of the promotion season he was lunging in and sliding around unecessarily after already having been booked for hacking someone down after being caught hopelessly out of position. He is young, inexperienced, local and the occasion and what it meant to him (as witnessed by the famous photo of him celebrating mid pitch invasion) are all mitigating circumstances for that sort of thing, but that doesn't mean that there isn't something in it.

I love the tackling argument. Never been sent off and I now think it's 6/7 yellows in his career. ;D

Would let Dicko go for arond £500 000, but would keep Shotton who I think has a much bigger potential.

Keep them both. When we have enough points to avoid relegation and if we don't bring in a LB in January, i'd like to see Dicko given a chance.
