I thought we would have the biggest crowd of day in championship on sat, but was surprised to see 24k for norwich for a mid table calsh with Barnsley.!...I know they are on a decent run but its an impressive turnout...was Delia promising to show off her dumplings?

Norwich attendances have always been reasonably decent to be fair mate. Since their recent sojourn into the Prem, they seem to have been able to keep hold of their 'new' fans (like a lot of clubs do tbh). You'd hope to see something similar at Stoke if it were to happen to us!

To be honest though sime, most clubs had similar average gates to what we're getting now before they first went up into the Prem (Derby, Leicester, West Brom, Charlton, Watford etc.) In fact, I think Hull are the only team to have a higher average attendance that have yet to play in the Prem.

Don't want to be too down on ourselves but we have the second cheapest prices in the division and had to give the tickets away to get 20,000 against Scunthorpe!!!

Can anyone explain the attendancea at Bradford City?
They seem to be getting 14K for games in the 4th tier of the English league, they are also struggling and have been thru hell in recent years.
Respect due!
Or are they being let in for nowt or something?

Plenty of clubs hold simlar initiatives around the league, so all averages will be distorted to an extent. Historically we've never been a massively supported club, and in the last 23 years we've been flitting between the 2nd and 3rd tier of English football with, let's be honest, very little to cheer about and entice new fans to watch the Potters. We're now in a position to change that so really we should be concentrating on the future and what we can do to change things - these latest initiatives are a step in the right direction. We're not suddenly going to start attracting 20,000 + crowds overnight without the aid of top-flight teams coming to the Brit...

Ipswich is not close to Norwich, its over 40 miles away. Norwich get excellent support, but they certainly benefit from being the only club for miles.

Bradford sold dirt cheap season tickets in the close season as they figured double the corwd for half the price is better than an empty stadium..
I think they are also doing offers for youngsters but not sure.
Plus they have Peter Thorne banging them in- what's not to like?!

Been at Norwich many times when 13-14k . Have been in the Prem more than once, top weren't they previously???- played Milan and Bayern Munich in Europe when we were in the old 3rd division.
Fair play, like Ipswich, Leicester etc have kept that increased fan base as a result- is nearly 25 years since we were there. I think that explains a lot.

Norwich do very good season ticket offers, and I seem to re-call somewhere that they have 18 thousand season ticket holders and now thas capped, this might be totally mae up, but think i read it...
Bradford, have been doing very good seaosn ticket offers over the past 2 years, SOme Free for the really young un's than from £1 a game, so thye also have a lot of ST sales

It's amazing how even one season in the Premiership increases your fan base. Leicester, Derby, Bolton, Middlesborough, Norwich, all of these clubs had comparable attendences to us during the late 80's/early 90's.
Norwich have nearly 20k season ticket holders and that is the key to maintaining healthy crowds. Whether you're top or bottom of the league the ground stays constantly full......

Their season tickets for 08/09 have been on sale for a while now, too. When are ours coming out? I want to get a few for some glory hunters I know.

The capacity at Naarwich is only about 26k....Carrow road must be almost full each game. Its one of the few grounds in this league I haven't been to...seems I might struggle to get there this season

Norwich =Norfolks football team.
Ipswich=Suffolks football team.
They are the big two in the entire East of the country.
They both attract an audience from a large catchment,and they built up a sustainable fan base from more recent premiership football.

Geordie Dave, didnt bradford have a spell in the prem ? seems any team having been in the prem for a spell keep some of their 'new' support even when they drop into the lower leagues
