I wasn't over the moon about Reid's appointment and now we're getting reports of training ground bust-ups every week, maybe that's just a coincidence, but... What worries me just as much is the way we've lost our way tactically since Spurs, I've never rated Reid as any kind of tactician although he's not been bad getting the best out of moderate players in the past... anybody know how much tactical input he really has??

He advises that Whelan, Lawrence and Tuncay start on the bench, while Rory and Huth play out of position.
Seriously though, i understand what you mean; there was the rumour of Ried and Kitson having it of; Tuncay having an arguement with Ried because Tunny can't quit smoking.
It could be coincidence, it might be Ried. Ried does have experience though and he might just want the players to get it in their head what is needed in the Prem.

Do you remember a Brazilian called Socratés? 60 a day. You can bet your arse that if Mama spent all day smoking cherry tobacco out of a Shirlock Holmes style pipe, he'd get a game.

Back onto the subject. I think we might be looking too deeply here. Whilst Reid is here to work with Tony, the final decision rests with Pulis, and he does not strike me as a man who would do something that he did not want to.

This isn't aimed at you Sal, but it's priceless that the very same people who a couple of weeks ago were marding that TP wasn't giving Reid enough influence on tactics are now complaining about Reid ;D

He could also have been influential in the win at Spurs ;D surely it can work both ways ??? .
I have no idea how much input Reid has, but are we really playing that much different than before he was here ? I can't see it myself, it's pretty much the same.

Mr Magic, you win the understatement of the year award for your comment that 'TP doesn't look like a man who would do something he didn't want to'. More chance of everyone on this MB supporting Vale, I would say............

We had the same thing with that last year, come to think of it. "Gerry Francis is responsible for our improved defending recently" "Gerry Francis is responsible for our poor run of form"

It's the difference between responsibility and accountability. As the man at the top of the slippery pole, Pulis SHOULD be seen as accountable for our results and performances.
It is his ultimate accountability to do the job he is asked to do, and ensure everyone working underneath him is delivering to that objective.
I imagine the job he's been given is to keep us in the Premier League, rather than entertain the fans, or play the players that some of us want him to play.
So far he is delivering to that accountable objective, so I suppose we should be happy.
We are 9th ferfuxsake.
Doesn't stop it being frustrating for the last two games tho ???

I think Francis is the formation man, working with the team on the two bank of four and solid defending. What Reid does i don't know? Was he appointed purely for his exeriance?

Lost our way tactically? Nothing's changed sal, we've had a couple of stinkers but nothing has changed! I'm surprised as a mod on here you're happy to pander to rumour-mongering about things that none of us will ever really know about. Reid, love him or hate him, has undeniable experience and good credentials in terms of management. As for training ground bust-ups...well it's rumour again, and as has been stated many times over, it's really not uncommon anyway and certainly not a pointer towards dressing room unrest at all.
