First and foremost, today was about getting a win any way and we did so objective achieved well done to all.
Having said that i can't help thinking that TP still refuses to play people in their best position, last year it was his experiment with Huth as a right back this season it seems to be Adam in a role i just dont get , he is the player who picks the ball up from the defence and starts moves, not a support striker / attacking midfielder. At Wigan he came on and took charge of the midfield brilliantly since then he has not been allowed to , I just dont get it sorry
It seems so hard to get to a point where we get the best players in the best positions with TP

Pulis out. The bloke is out of his depth, his substitutions most of the time leave people speechless , his playing players out position is dumbfounding to say the least it's like he's trying to ruin a decent player..

Johnny well said, I said it at the game today and on the player ratings thread, he's not the player to play off crouch, he needs be a bit deeper starting the play off, and it's one that can easily be done as we have nzonzi and whelan destroying for him. I want see Adam picking the ball up off the defenders then build up the play, not running around near crouch

Really thought Adam had a stinker today! Only played well the 3 minutes before he was taken off!

He's playing far too high up the pitch if you ask me. Who am I to say though.

I love Nzonzi , he has been a revelation but he seems to have much more mobility than Adam with as yet not quite as much vision so if i had to i would let him support crouch , I would prefer the two of them a player who naturally played in attack , even with Walters we improved once Etherington came on

The problem with Adam is as TP said in his interview he always looks for the Hollywood pass when its not the best option.

He is a good player but needs to be where Whelan is playing for me , no other manager would play him where TP is using him

Yeah I do think he is a quality addition too! Just needs to be used in his best position.

Pulis said he wants him scoring goals again like he did at Blackpool. Makes sense to me as he knows where the onion bag is. The problem at the moment is he's not quite fully fit, but still quality and composed for me. Will get better every game. Game time is what he needs

As others have said, he's playing far too high up the pitch, essentially in the Walters position. However, he constantly gave the ball away and bottled out of a few 50-50s, which has little to do with that. Poor.

not quite firing on all cylinders today, but was not shit.... he has the ability to do effective things at his slower pace, for me a very very good signing

It nearly cost us though he was trying to play out from inside the 18 yard box, simple football is sometimes the most effective.

Needs to lose a stone or two and has been suffering from a virus.
Wait until we get him fit and then judge him.

He is playing where helayed for Blackpool in front of two deeper midfielders but we don't play with the same width up front so he has less room to work in. There is nowhere else tp play him as he is statistically the worst tackler in the Premier League so would be a liability close to our goal. Whelan and N'Zonzi do the defending for him

He's a class player so he'll improve further as he beds in to our style of play.

It was my first time watching Stoke this season and I have to say I was very impressed not just by Adam, but by the whole of the midfield. I can understand what some are saying here, but for me Adam was calmness personified.... Something we have been missing.
The great thing about where he played was his ability to either break up the play or cause enough pressure that Swansea ended up rushing allowing Whelan or Nzonzi (and how good is he?!!!) to come away with the ball. He then offered a good outlet for attacking play from that point.
How often did you see Huth or Shawcross called into action versus last season? Hardly at all. This all comes down to the midfield pressing in which Adam takes the furthest forward lead due to his ability to read the game so well.
All in all very encouraging!

I was actually happy enough with Adam.
Definitely short of sharpness but still well able to pick a pass.

Charlie started poorly and began trying too hard to "make it" happen.
He gradually relaxed and improved as the game went on and provided some moments of real class.
Not fully fit but gives some real composure to the team.

Lets look at top players in the prem yesterday. We're they all fantastic, or were some below par? Why do we always expect our players to be 10/10 every week when you have players like gerrard, lampard, scholes etc not doing it. Are we saying Adam is better than all three, or that sometimes players can get a 7/10 without being ripped apart?
Bloody hell, we win, and our quality players are having every minute looked at

Adam has shown promise. He needs to improve his fitness and come to terms more with the role that TP expects of him in the team. It is difficult for creative players to settle quickly into TP's teams. So far Adam has done OK. The good form of N'Zonzi and Whelan behind him has helped cover his blips. Once Adam works out where his passing options are without having to search for them we should expect to see improvement.

Needs to get fitter (bit ironic when you see who we will not play due to fitness apparently)but I agree we are taking away his ability to receive the ball of the back four and build up play and he simply is not mobile enough to play the role he is being given. That may change of course when TP thinks Owen is fit enough to start, which he keeps saying he expects him to do sooner or later.
