Hi, Oatcake Fanzine!
I'm a 16-years-old Liverpool supporter from Amsterdam and a member of the independent LFC fansite 'Redandwhitekop.com/forum' In the build-up to the match we try to run a feature called 'Spyin Kop' for every game in which we ask an opposition fans site for their thoughts on the game and the respective teams.
As well as providing an alternative viewpoint on the upcoming match we hope to bring in some opposition fans for friendly banter and discussion pre and post game. It also gives us the chance to swop information about good pubs, bad burger vans etc for travelling Kopites/Potters.
I've put some questions below, if you or another supporter could answer them and email me back we'd be very grateful. If you can't spare the time but know someone who might be able to then please forward this message on to them.
Cheers and regards,
DutchRed
ps. When the article is complete I'd be happy to post a link and you'd be welcome to come along to the site and see the reaction. if you wanted to run a similar article we'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about Anfield etc.
1. What do you make from you start to the season?
2. How does it feel to be back in Europe after nearly forty years out of it?
3. What do you make from your club's transfer dealings this summer?
4. Could your boss Tony Pulis be any more popular at the Brittania?
5. You reached the FA Cup Final for the first time in you history. How do you look back on that campaign and the day of the final?
6. And is there a realistic chance of another cupset in one of the three cups you're involved in?
7. Are there any youth players who are worth keeping an eye on?
8. How does it come that you are a really tough then when playing at home, but still a bit of a roll over side when on the road?
9. Do you think it's a shame that the derby between your club and neighbours Port Vale isn't played anymore?
10. When other teams' supporters(particularly Arsenal's) are criticising you because of your supposed ugly football, do you really give a damn about that?
11. Who'll be your best players this season?
12. And your worst?
13. Don't you think you're having a lot of strikers right now with Crouch, Fuller, Sidibe, Jones and Jerome?
14. Then Liverpool. What do you make of the revolution at Anfield and our transfer dealings this summer?
15. And how do you feel on Kenny Dalglish, our boss?
16. If there was one Liverpool player you could choose to disappear in our line-up and you couldn't say Suarez(because that's becoming a bit boring now) who would it be?
17. Where will both teams be in the table come May?
18. And finally, what will be the score?
I'm very grateful for anyone who takes part!
Cheers and regards,
DutchRed

Think it's pretty odd to call a Liverpool supporter a glory hunter. A real glory hunter would have been off to Man Utd, Barcelona, Chelsea or Ajax, my local team and Dutch champions.. Can't see how supporting Liverpool at the moment is glory hunting. You're playing European football, we aren't..

He's 16, hardly had much glory with Liverpool has he? It happens in a lot of countries and always has done, for example we have a huge number of fans in Norway and Iceland. A-Ha were on TV the other week saying how growing up at home they had the option of supporting Stoke and Liverpool, that's how it is. I wish the 16 year old's on this board were as articulate as this lad.
However, I'm very hungover and certainly can not be arsed to answer all of those questions. ;D

Seems nice enough, to be fair.
Too many questions and I'm not really qualified to answer your questions about Liverpool as I purposely avoid them like the plague.

1 as a lad from stoke on trent i'm thrilled to see us in the premier and I think we've made a good solid start in a tricky opening set of fixtures. Especially considering the four european games. It's great getting to see your team play in a different country
2 its amazing to see the club back in europe! Really puts my home town on the map! Happy days
3 i'm thrilled with the signings. I've been going to the games since I was eight. Never thought i'd see the day we'd spend ten million on a player. My dad saw some great players at the victoria ground. As did my grandad, it's great to be able to talk about the history of my local team with family members
4 some of the locals never really warmed to pulis. Some because he often justified battling tactics by pointing to the fact that we come from a traditionally working class area. Some people found this a little patronising. Personally, despite how stubborn he can be, I love the guy, he's made my proud to be a born and bred stoke fan
5 understandably some people were dissapointed that we never really showed up as a team on the day. I was to proud to be upset though. It was incredible to see half of stoke on trent walking down wembley way. Hearing all those stoke accents in the pubs around the ground. And a great experience when all travelling down from stoke on trains and coaches and cars
6 you never know? There's a great character and resiliance in that dressing room. And when we're at home, with the people of stoke on trent filling the ground, roaring on our local team of heros, we can match any team, whether they be from manchester or liverpool, london or maybe even a big team like ajax
7 we're looking at building on the youth development front really. Particularly lads from the local area. There's only a couple in and around the first team at the moment. Shotton and wilkinson, we question whether they're going to make it long term but they grew up local. As a result of this they love the team they grew up supporting, being local lads and all. So it's clear they have a passion for the club and we love that

8 it's probably down to the local home support. So passionate for their club. The club belongs to them you see, the people of stoke on trent. The players love the support from them and the manager feels he can play a more attacking system when in our home town. I think you'll see us improve away from home this season though
9 I miss the derby a huge amount. Nothing like getting one over on your work mates. A local derby is a great occassion. I pity the poor bastards but deep down I guess I respect them, especially if they were born in the north of the city near vale park. They did what was right to be honest. It's not their fault their team is shit
10 it's particularly annoying when you see in the papers that we're getting slated by jeff arsenal fan, huddersfield or dave arsenal fan, wolverhampton in the letter sections. But I don't let it upset me, I feel sorry for them if anything, getting upset cause a team of pussys from a place that has nothing to do with them can't cope with the demands of the english game

When the article is complete I'd be happy to post a link and you'd be welcome to come along to the site and see the reaction. if you wanted to run a similar article we'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about Anfield etc. 1. What do you make from you start to the season? Generally happy with start as we have had a limited squad. 2. How does it feel to be back in Europe after nearly forty years out of it? Great feeling, but concerned about number of games to play. We must stay in prem as priority. 3. What do you make from your club's transfer dealings this summer? Very happy, although I wanted another midfield player (you've got a few spare ;D ;D Can we have that Gerrard lad ) 4. Could your boss Tony Pulis be any more popular at the Brittania? Not really , he's doing a good job. (Still plenty on here who hate him though) 5. You reached the FA Cup Final for the first time in you history. How do you look back on that campaign and the day of the final? Great feeling but final passed our players bye really. Its a pity semi's are played at Wembley as that day made the final an odd atmosphere somehow. 6. And is there a realistic chance of another cupset in one of the three cups you're involved in? We want to get to another final, not bothered which one) ;D ;D 7. Are there any youth players who are worth keeping an eye on? (Don't be nosey we have a couple that could develop though 8. How does it come that you are a really tough then when playing at home, but still a bit of a roll over side when on the road? Will change this year 9. Do you think it's a shame that the derby between your club and neighbours Port Vale isn't played anymore? Not bothered really 10. When other teams' supporters(particularly Arsenal's) are criticising you because of your supposed ugly football, do you really give a damn about that? Love it as we must be getting to them 11. Who'll be your best players this season? Not sure you can never tell who produces. Would love Crouchy becoming a hero though 12. And your worst? Danny Collins ;D ;D ;D ;D 13. Don't you think you're having a lot of strikers right now with Crouch, Fuller, Sidibe, Jones and Jerome? Never have too many & Sidibe & Fuller are injured. Don't forget Walters could develop into one of the best forwards in Prem 14. Then Liverpool. What do you make of the revolution at Anfield and our transfer dealings this summer? Better dealings (not money though, Carrol at £35 m is crazy) 15. And how do you feel on Kenny Dalglish, our boss? Always liked Kenny top bloke 16. If there was one Liverpool player you could choose to disappear in our line-up and you couldn't say Suarez(because that's becoming a bit boring now) who would it be? Your goalie (cannot spell his name) 17. Where will both teams be in the table come May? You lot will be top 4. Stoke hopefully 6 to 10th 18. And finally, what will be the score? Probably draw, if not 2-1 to Stoke ;D ;D ;D All the best mate

11 either wilson palacios or peter crouch. Can't believe either have come to play for my team.
12 i'm proud of them all
13 being from the area I happen to know that we desperately needed strikers. Fuller and sidibe are both injured and that left us pretty much just jones and walters. We were even using local right back shotton as an emergency striker
15 iknow a few people from liverpool who are very happy with their summers spending
16 always liked him to be fair
17 none, I would like to play against a full strength liverpool and give them a damn good game like we have recently at the brit
18 I think liverpool will finish third with chelsea fourth, maybe the other way round. I think we'll finish ninth

For fucks sake, he's only 16. 1. What do you make from you start to the season? It's been very positive. We're pleased with the signings that we have made and are cautiously optimistic of having a decent season.2. How does it feel to be back in Europe after nearly forty years out of it? It feels fantastic. We appreciate that for many of the bigger clubs the Europa League is a nuisance but for us it is the culmination of everything that we can possibly hope for. We know that we are not going to win the league of finish n the top 4 so we are incredibly grateful to be where we are, in europe and hopefully being as big a pain there as we are in the Premier League.3. What do you make from your club's transfer dealings this summer? On the whole, very good. Upson & Woodgate bring undoubted quality to a back 4 that needed genuine competition, not just back-up players. Palacios was a massive signing as all Stoke fans will tell you this was our weakest area on the field. Jerome and Crouch again add quality and depth to an area that we were desperately short in. Most Stoke fans, myself included, would tell you we would like to have seen some cover for the wings, but Tony Pulis will no doubt look at this in January. You have to remember that for many of us, we had become accustomed to watching Stoke in the lower leagues, so spending c. £22 million on players is still within the realms of fantasy 4. Could your boss Tony Pulis be any more popular at the Brittania? You'd be surprised!!! Our game is based entirely on results, and without them the grumbling starts pretty quickly. As the years have gone by this has become less of an issue as our style has improved. Pulis has a long history with Stoke, and in particular his first spell at the club was not met with universal acclaim but in the main the vast majority of fans may not love, but absolutely respect what he has done for Stoke City.5. You reached the FA Cup Final for the first time in you history. How do you look back on that campaign and the day of the final? Quite simply, the greatest day in my 25 year association with the club. That we won or lost was almost irrelevant. Stoke fans had been brought up on a diet of virtually nothing to cheer about, so to go to Wembley in the world's premier domestic knockout competition was a wonderful and memorable occasion for everyone involved.6. And is there a realistic chance of another cupset in one of the three cups you're involved in? I think TP will write the League Cup off as a competition for our younger players to play in. The FA Cup remains high on his priorities so if we get good draws who knows? As for the EuropaLeague, history dictates that if an English side take it seriously (Fulham, Middlesboro) they can do well. Here's hoping.7. Are there any youth players who are worth keeping an eye on? Yep. Look out for Ryan Shotton and Diego Arismendi, both named in the 25 man Premier League squad and will no doubt play their part this season. Next season we are hoping to see Ben Marshall, Matthew Lund and Florent Cuvelier start to push into the first team squad.8. How does it come that you are a really tough then when playing at home, but still a bit of a roll over side when on the road? Tactically, we are well suited to playing at home. We have a small pitch that makes our hard running style easier and we combine this with a voiciferous home support. Our away form shows that we are still not finished in our evolution as a Premier League club but a little more belief this season, given that we have better players, might see an improvement. We've already got 4 points away this season, which is not far from our haul from last season!9. Do you think it's a shame that the derby between your club and neighbours Port Vale isn't played anymore? No. Historically Stoke and the Vale have been in seperate divisions, so a derby game was a rarity. We enjoyed it while it happened in the 90's, but we're glad that normal service has been resumed 10. When other teams' supporters(particularly Arsenal's) are criticising you because of your supposed ugly football, do you really give a damn about that? We'd be lying if we said we didn't care. Most of the things that are said are based on our first season, where we readily admit we did what we had to stay alive. We are a tough, uncompromising, hard working team but there's more to us than Arsene Wenger or the Arsenal fans are prepared to concede. But if truth be told, whatever people say about us galvanises not only the players, but the supporters too. There's no great mystery to why we have such a great atmosphere at home...it's a siege mentality and we feed off it.11. Who'll be your best players this season? John Woodgate, Robert Huth & Ryan Shawcross have started well. Our two wingers are always massively important and we have high hopes for Crouch and Palacios. We have no superstars like you lads with Gerrard & Suarez. We'll do what we do as a team, a unit. It's the only way we know.12. And your worst? No comment 13. Don't you think you're having a lot of strikers right now with Crouch, Fuller, Sidibe, Jones and Jerome? Yes, but there are 4 cup competitions. We defend from the front at Stoke so they will all have plenty of running to do. They'll all be tired come May 14. Then Liverpool. What do you make of the revolution at Anfield and our transfer dealings this summer? It must be a fantastic time to be a Liverpool fan. Kenny seems to have revitalised the place completely and there have been some quality acquisitions made, no question. I still believe that talk of league titles is premature and a cheeky bid for Gary Cahill wouldn't go amiss, but i think that Liverpool can look forward to Champions League football next season. I also think it'll be at the expense of Arsenal, which as a Stoke fan i think is a great shame 15. And how do you feel on Kenny Dalglish, our boss? Brilliant. Great footballing man, fantastic servant to your club and a man that makes English football better for his participation. Can't speak highly enough of him.16. If there was one Liverpool player you could choose to disappear in our line-up and you couldn't say Suarez(because that's becoming a bit boring now) who would it be? I wouldn't pick Suarez. Stephen Gerrard is a magnificent player and i'd have hime at Stoke in a heartbeat. I also reckon Andy Carroll would do quite well for us, he seems to quite like crosses...17. Where will both teams be in the table come May? Liverpool 4th, Stoke 9th18. And finally, what will be the score? You can walk on with hope in your heart, but not against us. Stoke to win 2-1. All the best.

1. Couldn't have asked for much more really, through to the group stages of the Europa league comfortably, and doing well in the premiership with 5 points from 3 tough games. Although to be fair, West Brom is always a guaranteed 3 points.
2. Brilliant, although I haven't experienced as many of the lows as the older Stokies, it's amazing how far we've come in such a short amount of time with the guidance of TP and the backing of PC.
3. Happy with the signings we've made, obviously fit into our system well and we were crying out for strikers and a CM and we've filled the positions. Would've been nice to see a winger come in but all in all, can't complain.
4. Pulis still has his haters at the club, although they generally have the IQ of a brick wall. Anybody that doesn't love him obviously doesn't appreciate what he's done for the club and how far we've come under him, so with the majority, he couldn't be much more popular.
5. The day of the final was disappointing obviously, but it was an excellent campaign and you can never complain when you win 5-0 at Wembley. It was a surreal experience on final day, we lost but the support was immense, fans staying behind to show their support for the players and singing outside the ground despite the loss.
6. Personally I can't see us getting very far in the Europa League but I hope I'm proven wrong, and we'll probably draw Utd away in the FA cup to make up for a decent run last year. Tottenham will be a tough game in the Carling Cup but as it's at home it's definitely winnable, we always have a chance at home so hopefully if we get through the draw treats us nicely and then, who knows?
7.The obvious one is Cuvelier who we got from Portsmouth and is tipped for massive things, and it'd be nice to see him getting a bit of game time this season with the amount of games we'll be playing. Rossi is doing well in the youth team, but the best person to ask about the youths is Penkhull Stokie.
8. I think the support at home plays a massive part, even though we're not as loud we can still have an effect on the game. As well as that, Rory's throws generally have more of an impact on our pitch and are often an outlet when there's pressure on us, whereas away from home pitchers will be wider or teams will move advertising boards in to limit the effectiveness. Then there's the tactics, away from home we don't seem to go at teams as much, but with a win and a draw so far hopefully this is changing, although both away matches have been poor.
10. It makes me laugh when other teams criticise us for it because they rarely have any evidence to back it up and are just basing their opinions on what they've heard in the media. We always seem to do better when we're up against it and are being criticised, so I don't mind the criticism and I enjoy watching us play.
11. I think Pennant will be up there, and hopefully once he's fit Palacios. Obviously our defenders are always important and with so many quality CB's, it'd be tough to pick just one of them out.
12. Some would say Cameron Jerome, but those same people didn't want Walters last year and look at him now. It'll probably be Salif Diao, but I doubt he'll see much action this season (At least I hope not).
13. We needed new strikers in because of the injuries, this has frustrated a lot of Stokies with the media saying we've got too many yet we've only had 2 fit strikers this season, with Shotton coming on as a makeshift forward when he's usually a defender. Fuller and Sidibe have both been injured so no, I don't think we have too many.
14. Think you've brought in some very good players this season, although it wasn't hard with the amount of money you've spent. Downing is class and the Carroll/Suarez frontline will be one of the best in the prem.
15. Don't have an opinion on him really, haven't seen enough of him to either like him or dislike him. Nice to see a manager celebrating on the touchline when his team score as a lot just sit their with a blank expression nowadays, so that was nice to see.
16. Reina, very good keeper and if your back up is still Brad Jones, then you'd find it a lot tougher without him.
17. Stoke will probably be mid-table, but hopefully pushing for 7th/8th although it will be tough with the amount of games we have to play. Liverpool pushing for the top 4, finishing either 4th or 5th depending on how Arsenal do.
18. 1-1, I know we've beat you at home in the past but you're a completely new team now, but we're always tough to beat at home

1. What do you make from your start to the season?Pretty good, first away win under the belt and a draw against Chelsea will always be a great result 2. How does it feel to be back in Europe after nearly forty years out of it?Great! Being 21 I started supporting Stoke as a 10 year old when we were languishing in Division 2. I don't think I even contemplated being in the Premier League until five or six years ago when we were pushing for a playoff spot in the Championship. So to get to the promised land and not only enjoy our season of glory but continue on the magical road is unbelievable! 3. What do you make from your club's transfer dealings this summer?Very excited to see Crouchy on the end of the free kicks, throw ins and corners. Palacios is what we've needed ever since we got promoted - a decent midfield player who break up the play but also pass it around. 4. Could your boss Tony Pulis be any more popular at the Brittania?Yes, amazingly there are still a few that will not believe its him and insist it is Peter Coates' money that has bought us success. 5. You reached the FA Cup Final for the first time in you history. How do you look back on that campaign and the day of the final? The campaign was funny, started off as a bit of a distraction. I remember getting a replay against Cardiff and in some ways wishing we'd lost just to get on with the league again, but as we got through the rounds the excitement built until that magical semi against Bolton that couldn't have gone any better for us. The final itself was a bit of a shame, we had too many injuries and struggled to really create anything. Still one of the proudest days of my life. 6. And is there a realistic chance of another cupset in one of the three cups you're involved in?Why not, I don't think we'll be able to take all three seriously but I think we'll give Europe a good crack adn hopefully the FA Cup again. 7. Are there any youth players who are worth keeping an eye on? Ryan Shotton. Already scored two this season from defence and I must add that neither were headers! 8. How does it come that you are a really tough then when playing at home, but still a bit of a roll over side when on the road?I think the psychology of coming to the brit scares a lot of teams before a ball has even been kicked. Obviously our team is a lot more confident because of the record we have and Tony's tactics can be a little too defensive away from home. I think our away form will improve dramatically this season though. 9. Do you think it's a shame that the derby between your club and neighbours Port Vale isn't played anymore?Yes, I remember even as a 10 year old kid those games were special. We were both two poor teams (early 2000's) but the atmosphere was always crazy! I know a lot of Stokies are enjoying Vale's current plight but I would like to see them turn it around. 10. When other teams' supporters(particularly Arsenal's) are criticising you because of your supposed ugly football, do you really give a damn about that? Its quite amusing, its only ever mentioned when we've beaten their team or a decision has gone our way for once. The classic "I don't know how they watch that every week" always comes out - even when we've beaten teams by 2 or 3! 11. Who'll be your best players this season?Huth, Shawcross, Woodgate (if he stays fit) and Johnny Walters. 12. And your worst?Salif Diao.. he's a great bloke and Pulis obviously loves him, but how he is still playing for a premier league club is amazing. 13. Don't you think you're having a lot of strikers right now with Crouch, Fuller, Sidibe, Jones and Jerome?Well Fuller is injured until the new year and Mama (Sidibe) is about the same time frame and probably won't get too much game time even when he is fit. We are in 4 competitions this season though p.s. you missed super Johnny Walters from the list 14. Then Liverpool. What do you make of the revolution at Anfield and our transfer dealings this summer? Its good to see Kenny bringing in as many English players as possible and all of these young guys who will improve so quickly at a big team like Liverpool. Not sure about Bellamy to be honest though. 15. And how do you feel on Kenny Dalglish, our boss?I've always liked him, he's obviosuly got a huge passion for the game and its good to see him back managing at the top again. 16. If there was one Liverpool player you could choose to disappear in our line-up and you couldn't say Suarez(because that's becoming a bit boring now) who would it be?Stewart Downing. He made a few good runs in the Sunderland game that I saw and our full backs are always our weakness. 17. Where will both teams be in the table come May?We'll be around the 9th - 13th mark again and Liverpool will be 4th behind Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea. 18. And finally, what will be the score?1-1 (Suarez 32) & (Walters 82)

1. What do you make from you start to the season?
Very encouraging, a draw against chelsea first game of the season ( I think they've won the opening game of the season for the last 12 years) shows we are not scared to go at the big boys anymore.
2. How does it feel to be back in Europe after nearly forty years out of it?
Some were skeptical and didn't think it was worthwile, but I doubt we'd have brought in crouch and palacios if we hadn't.
3. What do you make from your club's transfer dealings this summer?
Looks like we are moving to the next level. Alot were worried that we wouldn't get all the players in we needed, but we have covered most bases.
4. Could your boss Tony Pulis be any more popular at the Brittania?
Always a big discussion on the oatcake about is he the best manager we've ever had - which says it all really.
5. You reached the FA Cup Final for the first time in you history. How do you look back on that campaign and the day of the final?
One of the best days out i've ever had, saw no troubles whilst I was there either. Man City fans were decent, had a bit of banter with them but like I said, nothing heated. Great achievement, and with the squad we have now I think we would have given a better showing of ourselves.
6. And is there a realistic chance of another cupset in one of the three cups you're involved in?
All depends on the draw for me, spurs at home in the carling cup, if they field a weak team and we give it a bit of a go, I don't see why we shouldn't go through. Then we just need the luck of the draw.
7. Are there any youth players who are worth keeping an eye on?
Not at stoke, we've just signed a new lad - gustavo rossi I think from Zurich, but he's 16. Cuvelier is in the belgium u21 squad and is only 18. But he would only likely feature either later on in the season or league cup etc. Marshall is the best prospect currently at the club but he's on loan to sheff wed.
8. How does it come that you are a really tough then when playing at home, but still a bit of a roll over side when on the road?
Liverpool were the same last season I may add, as are most of the teams in the prem. It's just more so at stoke, we are much more defensive away from home and tend to sit back far too much for most people's liking. At home we give it much more of a go.
9. Do you think it's a shame that the derby between your club and neighbours Port Vale isn't played anymore?
No, I'm glad we are in a position where we never have to play them. It would be the same as for you and Everton - the ultimate humiliation for a rival is to become so much better than them that you never have to play them again, so that being said wouldn't you love everton to be relegated a few times.
10. When other teams' supporters(particularly Arsenal's) are criticising you because of your supposed ugly football, do you really give a damn about that?
I think it rallies the team to play better against them to be honest. We play successful football at the moment and that's all that matters.
11. Who'll be your best players this season?
Huth, Pennant, Jones, Crouch. Hopefully.
12. And your worst?
Danny Collins.
13. Don't you think you're having a lot of strikers right now with Crouch, Fuller, Sidibe, Jones and Jerome?
Fuller and Sidibe are injured and to be honest Sidibe cannot be classed as a striker.
14. Then Liverpool. What do you make of the revolution at Anfield and our transfer dealings this summer?
Interesting that you bring in an old school manager and make old school signings for a big club. That is mostly young british players, I still don't think you have what it takes to win the title but with the team you've got now it can only get better. From an outsider though I still think you need a young cb to come in to replace carragher when he finally goes past it.
15. And how do you feel on Kenny Dalglish, our boss?
Wasn't around in his first reign but he has installed something in liverpool that hasn't been there for a long time: faith.
16. If there was one Liverpool player you could choose to disappear in our line-up and you couldn't say Suarez(because that's becoming a bit boring now) who would it be?
Agger, I think he's your better central defender, without him it would make it a lot easier to get something from the game.
17. Where will both teams be in the table come May?
I think Liverpool with finish 4-5 if they can keep up their form. Hopefully stoke can challenge for top ten, if we do then it would be a big plus for everyone involved.
18. And finally, what will be the score?
Stoke at home, we've just brought in 3 new players, 2 of which on very big money moves, for a team like stoke that is, after the international break - the brit will be rocking, which always gives our players a boost.
I think the match could go either way. But am hoping for a 2-1 win. Crouch, Jones and Suarez and the scoresheets

Funny this thread, I never see anyone having a go at Musik for supporting Stoke so spare us the hypocrisy.
On to the questions:
1. What do you make from you start to the season? Brilliant, we haven't been playing very well but we're undefeated and we have comfortably qualified for the Europa League.
2. How does it feel to be back in Europe after nearly forty years out of it? It's better than I imagined, tin pot cup when you're not in it but it feels very different when you are!
3. What do you make from your club's transfer dealings this summer? Very astute, squad wise I'd put our defence up against anyones now. A lot is being made of the Crouch transfer fee by other team's supporters. A big part of that fee will be going to the player who will be earning a much smaller weekly wage here.
4. Could your boss Tony Pulis be any more popular at the Brittania? Not sure, there are clearly some people around that don't like him, they generally point to the fact that the "Tony Pulis barmy army" song doesn't get sung like it used to for Lou Macari. Personally I just don't think the song works very well with his name - I don't sing it either! The reaction to him when his mum had died prior to the Villa match and the lap of honour at the end of the season suggests he is very very popular here, and rightly so!
5. You reached the FA Cup Final for the first time in you history. How do you look back on that campaign and the day of the final? Magical for us, living the dream.
6. And is there a realistic chance of another cupset in one of the three cups you're involved in? Yes, if you look at our recent record in the cups we've been doing well for around 3 seasons now. In the 2009 - 2010 season we knocked Arsenal and Man City out of the FA Cup, before losing to Chelsea. I'm tempted to whack a tenner on us to win the Europa Cup at 40\1.
7. Are there any youth players who are worth keeping an eye on? Nothing to see here, move along.
8. How does it come that you are a really tough then when playing at home, but still a bit of a roll over side when on the road? I think this is where Pulis gets the balance wrong, he tends to play a more defensive game away from home, he needs to attack teams more - hopefully we will!
9. Do you think it's a shame that the derby between your club and neighbours Port Vale isn't played anymore? Nope, they are where they should be, our Director of Football dragged them out from the sewers for a while at exactly the same time as we were at our lowest ebb as a club so our paths crossed briefly. It's like you missing playing Tranmere!
10. When other teams' supporters(particularly Arsenal's) are criticising you because of your supposed ugly football, do you really give a damn about that? It's because we beat them, their bleating is both funny and embarrasing. As a comparison does anone remember who broke Rory Delap's leg?
11. Who'll be your best players this season? If (big) he stays fit, Woodgate. Fuller (who seems to have been written off!), Begovich (who is looking top class) and I'm hoping Palacios.
12. And your worst? I think it's time we put Salif out to pasture.
13. Don't you think you're having a lot of strikers right now with Crouch, Fuller, Sidibe, Jones and Jerome? You forgot Walters! Mama won't be playing much, Jerome and Walters will be covering the wings. We're fighting on plenty of fronts until at least Xmas so they'll get game time.
14. Then Liverpool. What do you make of the revolution at Anfield and our transfer dealings this summer? You've got rid of a lot of crap - can that include the post Rafa Torres even though it was in Jan.
15. And how do you feel on Kenny Dalglish, our boss? I like him, inspirational and shrewd. I'll reserve final judgement until we get his reaction after we've beaten you be it next week or some other time - if he comes out with the same cliched shit that Woy did after we beat you then my opinion of him may change.
16. If there was one Liverpool player you could choose to disappear in our line-up and you couldn't say Suarez(because that's becoming a bit boring now) who would it be? Lucas, shame Woy isn't still isn't in charge cos he was going to let him leave. Was strongly rumoured that Pulis was after him.
17. Where will both teams be in the table come May? I've changed my mind here, you'll get 4th, I'm hoping 9th for us which would be a huge achievement.
18. And finally, what will be the score? 2-1 Stoke
