Exactly this..... And for people to also suggest Whitehead is poor are quite frankly talking bollocks. Whitehead is fcuking brilliant.... Yes, Whitehead is fcking brilliant, some people always think the grass is greener though.

www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/Stoke-City-Potters-poised-new-Dogba-loan/story-13230510-detail/story.htmlManager Tony Pulis, pictured below, must then decide whether Palacios's arrival gives him sufficient personnel to consider West Ham interest in Glenn Whelan.
The 27-year-old Irish international, who has clocked up 127 appearances since arriving from Sheffield Wednesday for £500,000 in January 2008, would head out of the Potteries for a healthy profit.
Whelan has established himself as a regular in the Irish line-up during his time at the Britannia Stadium.

Still think we'd be mad to get rid of Whelan, no matter who we bring in. There's no need to get rid from our point of view and it'd put us a step back towards square one as we'd still end up short of cover.
Whelan's been excellent since March and has done well in every game he's played this season. I hope we don't want to get rid and I hope he doesn't want to leave. He's been a cracking bit of business for £500k which is about 10% of the price we paid for Whitehead.

Whelan is pretty much 1st choice CM at the moment isn't he? Maybe Delap is on a par when fit, but certainly whelan is above Deano in the pecking order. No way it'd be a good move to sell him, and I doubt he'd want to drop down a division either with a ROI place at stake.

I wouldn't want him to go "/ he's really growing into his role in the team at the moment. I've gone right off whitehead.

If we were getting rid of Diao/Soares/Tongue/Pugh it would make some sense but getting rid of Whelan would be absolutely pointless unless we were bringing in 3 central midfielders all of better quality than Whelan-which we won't be doing in th etime left to do so.

The only way we should let Whelan go is if Thunderbird chappie comes our way - but this is made up Sentinel nonesense - like we are really swimming in midfielders as it is

Does anyone else think there's a chance were in for livermore from spurs too? I've been impressed with what I've seen of him and we are meant to be after good young players

I would imagine if it's in the Sentinel the source is almost certainly the club so it's pretty much nailed on

If palacios is worth 8 million then we need to surely recoup about 5 million for whelan. Personally I would be disappointed if we signed a quality centre mid only to sell our next best one for pittance, wouldn't be too much an improvement. If west ham want stoke players we should give them tonge, soares, sidibe and collins for free.

No, whats the point in trying to strengthen a team by signing Palacios then go and sell whelan who is a first team regular!! Dont think he'll be going anywhere to be honest!

Ive started the car. He is one of the most overrated player in the country. If he has had 2 dozen good games for us that will stretch it

Now that West Ham have signed a midfielder i would like to think that they've been told that Whelan isn't going anywhere.
If it meant getting Palacios but selling Whelan then please please please let me keep Whelan because he's playing the best football of his career and not only that but he'll be hitting his prime...
