Dennis is great!
He's very passionate about Stoke and very knowledgeable having managed so many games.
He's also got a good Stoke accent "get holt of the ball"!
Makes up for Nigel's "cirtles"!

I wish they would format it in the positions they’ll play to stop everyone guessing They're listed in numerical order by shirt number.

I worked for Staffordshire County Council for 31 years drawing maps of the region. <skip loves this> Is there an online archive of the re/drawn maps and boundaries? I'm sure there must be some on the internet somewhere!

Walsall and West Bromwich have never been part of Staffordshire, even before local government reorganisation in 1974, wheras Wolverhampton was. I worked for Staffordshire County Council for 31 years drawing maps of the region. As you say Staffordshire, Walsall and West Bromwich are in the West Midlands region. Not disputing your work & 31 years drawing maps is some feat, but I am querying your knowledge of circumstances prior to 1974. Even the 'Staffordshire Historical' write up describes Wolverhampton, Walsall & West Bromwich as being removed from Staffordshire in 1974, not just Wolverhampton as you mention. I also know there are and were areas In both Walsall & West Bromwich that used to display the Staffordshire Knot. *Staffordshire is a landlocked county in the West Midlands of England. It adjoins Cheshire to the north west, Derbyshire and Leicestershire to the east, Warwickshire to the south east, West Midlands and Worcestershire to the south, and Shropshire to the west. The historic county of Staffordshire includes Wolverhampton, Walsall, and West Bromwich, these three being removed for administrative purposes in 1974 to the new West Midlands authority. The resulting administrative area of Staffordshire has a narrow southwards protrusion that runs west of West Midlands to the border of Worcestershire. The city of Stoke-on-Trent was removed from the admin area in the 1990s to form a unitary authority, but is still part of Staffordshire for ceremonial and traditional purposes.* Fair enough, can't argue with those facts! In all my 31 years working for the County Council it never came up that Walsall and West Bromwich were once part of Staffordshire, although Wolverhampton was mentioned.

The Staffordshire Derby is between us and Wolves as Wolverhampton once was part of Staffordshire before 1974. 'The Staffordshire Derby' is any match amongst any of Stoke, Vale & Burton as all are Staffordshire FL based clubs. The 'Old Staffordshire Derby', is when either Stoke, Vale or Burton play matches V Walsall, Wolves & West Brom as these three clubs/districts all used to come under Staffordshire at some point or another in history through time, so are classed as Old Staffordshire rivals. I'd only mentioned Stoke v West Brom as the 'Old Staffordshire Derby' in this thread as they're the only team we currently play in the 'Old Staffordshire Derby'. But same could be said if played Wolves and Walsall aswell. West Bromwich & Walsall are still classed as being in Staffordshire 'Shire County' but in West Midlands Region. Whereas Wolverhampton is only classed as being under Staffordshire as its historic county title, its now fully fledged West Midlands.

As has been mentioned before, any Stokies South of Stone see Wolves as our biggest rival & always have. Staffords a pretty even split town between Stoke & Wolves fans. Express and Stars sold in the southern side of the town, whilst the Sentinels sold in the northern parts. There was a time more back in the 80's or 90's when pubs were known as either Stoke or Wolves pubs dotted around the town aswell.. As for more recent match ups due to league status, suppose that'll be WBA or Birmingham City. Stoke v WBA is known as the old Staffordshire Derby! The Staffordshire Derby is between us and Wolves as Wolverhampton once was part of Staffordshire before 1974.

I've mentioned his name a few times of late - big presence and a leader at the back. Fits like a glove really. Signed a new "long-term" contract last year.

Is there a recall clause? No and there wasn’t in the Travers deal either was there contrary to popular belief. They invoked some bullshit premier league mitigating circumstances regs that shouldn’t even be there. Which won't apply in this case as it's a loan from a championship club.

Sure you tried to tell me it had yesterday. It didn’t go to clear FFP that is exactly what I’m calling pulling the wool over your own eyes. It was made clear when we sold Souttar that we had to do it because of FFP. Are you suggesting the club lied and if so why? It was stated that when we sold Bursik that cleared the FFP debt and any further sales were available to spend ie the Souttar money. Sorry, see exhibit A above.

Yeah ok if you pretend the Souttar money just vanished. it did , the majority went to clear ffp It was stated that the Bursik money went to clear any FFP debts. Any sales after that were available to spend.

A big positive from the summer is that we signed 18 players with a net spend of only about 7-8 million wasnt it? The new manager has a decent budget to work with in the next few windows So, we’ve already lost money in the last window, we operate at a loss and you think that we are going to have a “decent budget”? Souttar £15m Tymon £1.5m Brown £5m £21.5m in say £8m out = £13.5m. Plus we saved on some big earners leaving, minus signing on fees and new wages and compo for Neil and Schumacher - so yes, we should have a “decent budget” for signings.

I don’t think Wesley will be here. His agent will be trying to tout him around to a club abroad as he’s not playing here and has a short term contract With any luck we can then bring someone else in on loan with a view to a permanent signing He's our player, we took over his contract to the end of the season so he won't be here next season and isn't taking a loan spot.
