Yeah I’ve posted that above mate So you did👌Was rarely inHanley in my life but remember that as had a chap who hand painted leather jackets. I remember half my class had Rainbow on their denim or leather jackets. Not me personally but was the thing ...Harrington jacket myself. I remember the Rainbow thing. Zippy was my favourite.

Alternatively I remember trying to get a copy of Tracy Thorn's - A distant shore when I was at college in Birmingham in the 1980s. I heard her crackly beer stained version of The Velvet Underground's Femme Fatale at the end of a particular drunken house party, as the light started to peep into the front room. I remember I thought "I need that". This predated her time in EBTG and the whole album was recorded for less than £140. The major outlets had no idea what I was on about. For about 10 weeks on the trot I went to some bloke in Birmingham near the "rag market" who eventually tracked me one down as it was a limited pressing. Although it was released in 1982 it didn't make number 1 in the indie charts until 1983. It really does draw attention to how the charts were rigged by the big companies buying copies of their own artists themselves from the "key" stores used for the counting process. Back in the day it was really difficult to break through as an independent band, just gigging local with a press of a 1000 or so. Now of course anyone can get music out there and the democratisation is so much better. That said though there was something fabulous about knowing you were in a clique of a few hundred or a few thousand hunting for hidden treasure. I have no doubt some kids would have given up 30 seconds after Tower Records saying it wasn't stocked. I think that's what I miss about the independent record shopping experience. I remember finding Pearl Harbour which was the Japanese early 80s Import of the Clash" Debut LP with all the later Dingles on for the price of the regular one in a shop in Dublin. The chap in the shop had a good look at it before selling it to me obviously realising it may have been priced wrong . Think was I only 9 maybe 10 and only had 2 Irish pints on me. Was 7 or 8 quid in UK if could find it Guinness or Smithwicks?

I can remember the gloves in that era, they were very thin and the palm area had a rubbery pimply covering similar to what was on table tennis bats.Absolutely nothing like the monstrous padded things they wear today. It’s a myth that balls were heavier back in the day. The starting match weight for a ball was 13-15ozs whereas now the weight has to be 14-16ozs. Of course the early materials meant that the ball gained weight on a wet pitch but modern synthetic balls means that they more or less maintain the same weight. Regarding keepers gloves before the rubbery pimply material you describe, gloves were made of tightly meshed string material and keepers would only wear them when the ball was wet and often carried several pairs onto the pitch because they lost their grip as they became wet. The balls were indeed heavier in wet weather. The material absorbed water. When I was a kid, anyone who owned a casey ( leather ball for the kids on here), also had to try and dry it out after a game. Tins of dubbin, a bit like shoe polish, were rubbed into the ball leather to try and keep water out.

Evening all👋🏻 Just a quick shout out to all those spending Christmas Day alone. Unfortunately I’ll be one of those for the first time in my life and it’s not something I’m looking forward to. Just put up my decorations, yes I know it’s late. But it’s made me feel loads better getting the living room look like a grotto. My daughter will be visiting tomorrow so I had to do something. I’ve put some calls out to old friends I’ve not seen for a good while and managed to get a few nights out with them to soften the blow. I’ve also found myself thinking about people I don’t normally think about over Christmas so I’ve bought all those people cards and gifts with the money I’ve saved from not buying for the ex😀 Merry Christmas everyone and for those in a similar position don’t suffer alone, do something about it. It’s hard to find the motivation sometimes but when you do it feels so much better✊🏻 Nice one Badge.

1. Pub league.
2. English Championship.

The word ACE seems to be dying a death. Starting to get strange looks whenever i describe someone or something as ACE. Joe In Oz uses the word 'Ace' daily. And if it's good enough for him.....

Why use squib when you can substitute squid for it instead? Similarly why have a moot point when you can just mute it and have done with. Because a damp squid doesn’t make any sense when describing something that fails to impress. All squids are damp🤷🏻♂️🤣 But all squids are damp. 🥁

Who are UTD? If it’s Manchester United you mean aren’t those fans in the wrong stadium? Yes Manchester United fans..with no home game over the festive period I assume most will want a football fix. Macclesfield I imagine will have a large Manchester United fan base None of those pricks live in Manchester anyway.

One goal this season and hasn't played since September. It sounds like the Accrington manager dropped him over a contract dispute. #bulletdodged.

I mean there's loads of better beers out there, but in terms of the big ol bottles you can get in supermarkets, it's the best in my opinion. It's also 5.2%, which is nice. Blimey I’d be hard pressed to get ten of those down in one sitting on a school night! Or at play time.

Readily available where? I've never seen Asahi in a pub in this city. Sainsburys yes, but not a bona fide drinking establishment. Few places in Manchester have it on draught, definitely my favourite lager. The only place I’ve seen it locally is Castletown Distillery in Newcastle-under-Lyme…….. Asahi is the best Japanese beer by far. ✅
