Stoke fans are being offered tickets in the South Stand (away end) for the Ipswich game
Is this now a permanent feature till the end of the season?
Ipswich will surely bring a good number of fans but won't fill the away end
Is the idea to maximise the number of cheap(er) tickets available to Stokies?

Someone said the stand can be split into 3 areas on the concourse. Good news as it will mean noise from all 4 sides

Good point Somehow can't see the Southampton fans being too friendly at half time 3-0 down or our in the Scunny match for that matter!

Yes they were down the full length. Makes sense, espcially if you can split if off in a reasonable manner. Can't imagine it happening for Burnley, Cardiff, Millwall etc etc etc....

Should be a big crowd on Saturday
Britannia have been giving away tickets for the game in their branches and have been handing them out to staff as well.
Britannia sponsor us of course, but they also sponsor a stand at Ipswich

it was weird seeing stokies in the away end.... i was sat lookin at the away and noticed there was about 15 stewards there. I thought if stokies want to get to the away fans... like 15 are gonna stop all them

Great idea.
It helps the general atmosphere.
The players get welcomed and applauded off the pitch from all sides.
The acoustics are much beter in that end for some reason.
Personally i think Stokies should be in there permanently and away fans in the family stand area .
I sat in their on Tuesaday and would assume there was 15-1800 Stoke in there.

kevkj. Theres a big difference in the numbers that you thought were in the stoke end. 15 - 1800. so you could be out by up to 1785. Only joking mate

Seeing as there have been 10 goals scored at that end in last week and none in the Boothen Goal.... Maybe we should ALL move there ??? ;D

We were in the family stand and it made so much difference to hear/see stokies on all sides.
Should be permanent.

My concern would be that the Block 11'ers would move to the away end though and that could cause trouble, unless they flipped the sides around and had the away support by the tunnel so Block 11 could keep on gesticulating etc. but in a safer way... But then of course you lack the factor of both teams coming out to a load of Stoke fans.

This has been announced by the Britannia
I would guess that some of the boys from the main stand will move across but having opposing fans is commonplace in many grounds
Above someone suggested that the split was top section away to bottom section home. However I have been told that the split was down the centre left/right which would make more sense ???

I think the club have got to open the south stand to home supporters on a regular basis if we're execting crowds of 20,000. It allows people to purchase tickets and sit together in groups, as well as letting people have a great view of the game rather than get stuck on row 5 by the corner flag.
It will also help with the atmosphere, generating noise in favour of the home side from all four stands, as well as allowing the players to run out to their own supporters rather than a barracking from the away fans.
It can also boost ticket sales for the big games by allowing the club to sell as many tickets to home fans as is demanded.
I only hope that we don't get idiots choosing to go in there for a fight. It would have to be well stewarded, but other clubs do it fine.

The concourse is split in the middle and then the stand has stewards inbetween the fans just like at Newcastle. I would like to see 3000 home fans in there just to make it that more intimmidating for their fans and it would give a good atmosphere too.

When i was at school, i did a report on Stoke, concentratng on health and safety and I had a meeting with and tour from John ALcock stadium manager.
The away end is split into or can be split into 3 sections. They have 2 foldable walls/gates.. Each section as a beer and a food counter. Although i think its the foodbar sells beer.. not 100% ure though. So if it was that we would be using the away end permantly it is a possabily that we could aquire the majority of the stand.
In all fainress looking at the layout of the away stand. I would expect the away fans to stay on the familt stand end.
By doing this, outside the ground it would be easier to segreate. There is already a fence between the awat end at the seddon stand. all that will need to do is another fence sliting up the stoke blocks and the awya fans blocks having the car by the bike school as the only exit and entry for away fans ans Stoke fans to enter and exit by the club shop. Also the holding sells are by the tunnel entrance. and it be better for players to come out to wall to wall Stokies either side!

Dixo,
There will be a good few who see it as a good opportunity to go in there and cause trouble. But if it's well segregated and stewarded, then opening it to home supporters is a great idea.
Would be great banter with the away fans I'd imagine.
