I remember seeing Lampard in an under 21 match a few years ago and thinking that he would be an England regular one day. Then he seemed to lose his way.
Does anyone else think he should now be one of the first names on the England team sheet - given his performances for Chelsea this season?

Fornside, class player
But where do you play him in midfield
Cant play him on the left. Wasted out there
Beckham on the right and Scholes and Gerrard are the 1st choice central midfield pairing, arent they!??

Yes they are Padders and assuming they are both fit its unlikely to change.
Scholes in an attacking midfield role and Gerrard in a defensive midfield role in front of the back four. Not sure where Frank Lampard could fit in. Maybe as a sub but thats all really.

Scholes is nowhere near in as good form as Lampard is at the moment so he should be picked over him. Didn't Lampard do an ok job on the left in a recent England match? All the other square pegs for that round hole haven't worked so maybe he could do a decent job there.

Perhaps Ange but still not convinced.
says something about English football when we are just working out who the best right footed player we can play on the left is! Why can't they use both feet?

I have always liked Scholes and still do. Lampard gets the nod over Scholes for his form this season. Lampard has had a tricky job playing in a Chelsea side who's players are hardy a unit yet and where the team composition changes from week to week. He has done magnificently in my opinion.
Scholes has done a good job in a relatively settled ManU side but in the past couple of seasons his international form has been poorer than his club form - and not just on the goalscoring front.
Lampard deserves his chance alongside Gerrard with Scholes on the bench in my opinion.

Scholes is one of our true class acts - and taking the field without him is unthinkable.
Lampard is definitely pushing him hard, but I think he lacks the guile of Scholes. Lampard must be one of the most improved players around - but Scholesy is a nailed-on cert IMHO.
Henry and Vieira were quoted recently as saying he was the best player in the Premiership.

I think he will get his move to the Prem in the summer when his contract runs out, and give him a season plying his trade in the top flight, he will be thrown in to fix Englands problem position! Thanks what I reckon anyway! ;D

Yes CPepper you've nailed it mate! Thompson can play centre half too so it would fatten the squad up.
