Diao was dreadful - woefully off the pace.
One game too many at this stage - but on the evidence of that, still a long way short of full fitness. A long way short of the player we saw last season.

Diao was simply not at the races last night and had to come off. I'm more worried about the general defending though, we son't play the offside trap very well and the inexperience of Shawcross shows through at times. We do miss Higgy back there and TP needs to sort it out. Simmo isn't in the best form either.

He'll get better as he gets match sharpness back. I agree that he shouldn't be starting games at the moment, as much because playing the round-peg-in-square-hole that is Delap on the left-wing narrows our attacking options.
I would have him on the bench as a sub for Rory/Whelan at around the 70 minutes vs Ipswich.

all this shit about"he did his running"
the same sort of thing was said about useless, he went and now we are winning every game, and delap is playing out of his skin.....
If delap and whelan arent played in the middle it will be a real shame, delap deserves his slot in the middle now that he is playing great and who would you rather have??? whelan or diao........
russell is shit, couldnt pass, couldnt tackle, just ran around all over the place like a headless chicken...
whelan and delap would be great.

I personally don't think it will take Salif long to get back to his best and I don't really think that it's at all fair to make comparisons to how long it's taken Delap to recover. I would imagine that Delap had to get up to playing mentally as well as physically after that horrific injury. Diao is just a bit rusty.
