We only sat in there for a change, never again my John Smiths friends, never again.
Next time I get asked to sit in there i'll stay at home, sit in my bathroom and stick needles into my eyeballs, far more enjoyable.

There's a pub near me which is unbelievably dead. I think I'll go and sit in there tonight so I can moan about the lack of atmosphere.
Some people!!!
RRP....i do think some folk just spend their whole time looking for something to moan about. It's folk's personal preferance where to sit as you say. If you don't like it then common sense says not to do it again.
Unbelievable.

i sit in the johnsmith upper tier - i like the view i shout & join in witht he singing and have a good banter with the guys sat around me...
so question is - what more do people want from going to the game? does it really matter where you sit?

The simple solution is that if people find it boring in the JS, why go in there in the first place? Its not like there nowhere else to sit. Go into the Boothen or the Sentishite and save yourselves a quid or three.
There was no less noise coming from the JS than the other stands on Saturday. After the match I could hardly talk and had a git of a headache from all the shouting.
I sit just to the right of the dugout and had a good "go" at Lee & Co myself, especially at the end of the match with that tosser of a coach or whoever he was.
I genuinely believe that the Boothen End is over-hyped and isn't half of what some people make it out to be. If it is whilst in there, it certainly doesn't carry. Only the block 19'ers seem to give it a go unless everythings going our way.

JR jumped at my throat at the start of this thread, even though i said on several occasions, that my views on the JS stand have changed somewhat, ive sat in the JS stand several times and cant fault the view, true its not the most lively of stands, but each to thier own JR the prawn sarnie comment comes from a Roy Keane about 4 years ago, commenting on how the ManUre fans sit there and dont sing but eat Prawn Sarnies....i started that one of in the last JS debate, a poor crack at humour but hey, give me credit for trying smeegs

If you label an entire stand "boring" , "Prawn sarnie" eaters etc you're bound to get a backlash. I can't comment on the JS as a whole despite going to every game there because I only know a very small section of them. No one ever said it was lively, for that matter which stand is????? Roy Keane made a comment re the new corporate breed of man U fan and he was probably justified to do so. if you for one second think there are corporate gloryhunters at the britannia then you are seriously mistaken As for the comments from Albert re Tweed jackets and weak tea well I've never seen a tweed jacket or sampled tea from somebody elses thermos who he is talking about so can't comment on that. I like my seat and we have a great craic in there on a Saturday. Have sat in the Sentinel once and wouldn't do it again...my preference. I didn't meet all the fans in there that day so can't label them one way or another. Wasn't sure how strong the tea was or notice if tweed was in that season either.

What a fuckin joke this thread is! People complaining that there isn't enough atmosphere in the JS stand for them . . .well heres a bit advice . . don't fucking sit there!! Not exactly Einstein stuff! I often sit in the JS when I get chance go (being an exile not a huge amount), but last time I went in the Sentinel stand . . suprise suprise I was surround by the biggest bunch of whinging tossers I've ever had the misfortune to sit by. However I'm not stupid enough to think this is standard for the whole stand and come on here saying it was shit. Pay your money and take your choice and if you don't like it then got sit somewhere else. But don't whinge about it, because it may come as a suprise to you but not everyone who attends wants the same thing as you. (but obviously you ego believes different)

What a load of Cobblers this post is. I have sat in the JS for the last four seasons. It is without doubt the best view in the ground. And all of the old dudes around me are some of the most committed, knowledgeable, enthusiastic supporters we have. I detest football fan snobbery as illustrated by messages such as this. We should be together as fans of Stoke and it should not matter where we sit. This sort of comment as well as insulting a large sector of our support is divisive and brainless.

I sit in the JS stand, sadly just behind the part-time idiots, who do only seem to turn up when the could be a hint of trouble, on the whole we enjoy it. Me and my cousin are both 22, we enjoy a few beers before the match and we do sing and shout, so does everyone around us.
Like its already said, each to there own.
Iv sat in every stand on numerous occasions (excluding the away stand of course) We have now made the JS our home. For this season at least.

I've sat in the J.S. Stand a couple of times and even attended a game in a box "Aint I important ;D" I didn't like it too much so guess what I did.......???? I attended my next game in the Boothen!!!! Simple answer! I never complained about it because its upto an individual how they want to support stoke, and if its sitting in the John Smiths then "Good on em!!!" COME ON YOU CITY!!!! Ejay

Funny how all those who sit in the John Stiffs find it necessary to defend it while all those who only choose to sample it thinks it’s like the Derby and Joan club of Stoke. I sat in the middle just in front of the padded seats for the Waddo suite, I was surrounded by overcoats and tweed jackets, and there were at least a dozen people with flasks around me. It was so bad I was pleading with the stewards to let me go sit in the Boothen or the Sentinel. As for personal preference it was my first John Stiffs experience and definitely my last. And by the way JR (moorlander) why do you persist in sending me PM’s asking me who I am then calling me Albert??? You really don’t like other people having an opinion do you.

Without wanting to speak for JR (although that's exactley what I'm going to do):
The thing that I think is stupid about you (Spiderman) is that you come out with all these bold brash statements criticising everyone, but then hide behind this mystery personna you've created. Personally I don't give a fuck who you are, I've never met anyone of this board so it wouldn't bother me if your Rex or Smudge or long awaited return of ktel. But some people have met other people of this board and it annoys them that it might be someone that they've met that is slagging them off. Especially as the person who is slagging them off hasn't even got the balls to say who he is.
Again, apolagies to JR for replying to a post that was meant for him. It's just that this guy is so pathetic it's untrue

I think the day you came on here Spiderman you claimed you knew me and i sent ( answered) 2 maybe 3 PM s and possibly replied to one the next day. If that is persistant in your book fair enough. Don't make stuff up to back up such a pathetic argument....seem to do that a lot. Over a week ago now. You sent me one since which I have ignored.
Since then I havent bothered as frankly after reading the bollox above I dont care.
There's opinions and there's made up moronic comments. The folk I really feel sorry for are the ones you sit by.
Not only are you the voice of 5000 fans but you also count thermos flasks...mmm...and you call folk boring ;D

^ yeah but even a government report has to take a largeer view than two feet around them - did you walk the length of the stand when you were in the john smiths? did you talk to several groups of people? did you make any attempt to findout whether there was a different trend in other parts of the stand?
all the above would allow you to come to conclusive conclusions... or did you take a quick glance around you after having 6 beers before the game, say to your self "this is shit" beg the stewards to move you. then sit there grumpy for the rest of the game cos they said "no!"...
as i say just an observation not an argument?!
;D
