Do these people not get paid to know as much as possible about the midlands football scene?!
Why is it that they can't be arsed to do some research into the teams before they spout off any old crap?
To be fair it wasn't just Soccer Sunday, it was on the BBC site as well, but where have they got this idea that Carl Asaba has been playing every game for us since he scored his last goal. "15 games without a goal and it was definately sweet 16 for Asaba as he scored after a Kris Commons shot was parried"....hang on a minute, how many games has Carl started out of the last 16....not more than 5 (if that) surely?! I hope I haven't got this stupidly wrong but how they can make such a 'token' comment (as they always do) seems ridiculous to me.
Now onto the commentry. Absolutely appalling! Russell screamer??!! Fair enough, it wasn't a bad hit but a screamer...no-where near. The keeper fluffed it and they made no mention whatsoever of that! And then in the Reading/Derby game they say that the ball was laid on a plate for Goater when he had to cut inside, go past a man and execute and excellent shot. The ball was laid on a plate?? Someone just simply passed him a ball from 10 yards away!!!
I'm doing media studies so I tend to criticise every single programme on TV but Soccer Sunday are just plain sloppy and should be ashamed of themselves.
If I edited the Oatcake (probably a very good thing that I don't) they would be making an appearance in 'Like My Arse' every other issue; like my arse Soccer Sunday, like my arse!

Becuase it is hard to find out some facts on 'lowly' Stoke when you've got your head rammed up the arse of Wolves, Birmingham and Villa

I find myself screaming at the radio/TV several times-a-day, on hearing scandalously sloppy pieces of journalism.
15 minutes of background research would eliminate all problems.
Often, 99% of the audience are better informed than the "journalists" who seek to do the informing.Frustrating.
It has to be said that it is often women who are guilty of these football-related bits of sloppiness.
I draw no conclusions - but simply make the comment ;D

Well it was was the Soccer Sunday woman who made the Stoke research and commentry errors, but to be fair she's rather attractive.

As I've got me anorak on they also mention a save Neil Alexander made for Cardiff v Forest when Margetson for Cardiff got in the team of week side in Sport First. Sure enough when the keeper turned his back on the camera it did say Margetson.
A candidate for Like My Arse methinks.

I believe BBC head of sport was going to resign due to the below report on our league game on the BBC website. Reo-Coker didn't play in the facking cup game Wimbledon's line-up, which was already missing Cup heroes Nigel Reo-Coker and Adam Nowland through injury, was disrupted further when midfielder Alex Tapp limped off after just 14 minutes

Fucking media studies?? Why didn’t you choose something with a bit more credibility like “the history of the wand” or “a can opener a modern classic”? Then you wonder why students are to pay more tuition fees ;D ;D ;D

Sky Sports News just the same. Describing yesterday's winner the commentary running over the video footage went something like...
"Asaba then got his second, he seemed to be on the ball for ages and moving away from goal before finally turning and shooting...oh but look, it must have got a deflection before wrong footing the keeper..."
Obviously the commentator was watching the video 'real time' whilst adding his 'expert' views. So fuckin' expert in fact he doesn't know the difference between Gifton and Asaba! Without wanting to get into a 'race' discussion there's one helluva a difference between the two of them that I'm sure most of us can see for starters. Truly abysmal journalism.

Spiderman:
1. It's quite easy.
2. I'd rather have been in the army (I know) or police (I know even more).
3. I don't wonder why students are to pay more tutition fees. It doesn't bother me. We want the good education so we should pay for it. The thing that does concern me is that my brother will end up graduating with over £60,000 of debt. Fair enough he'll be in a well-paid job hopefully (doctor), but that kind of amount is silly for 'Middle England' family like mine.
Can we try and move the subject back to football rather than you just trying to wind me up please?
And don't tell me to stop being serious, because I know thats what you were going to do.
PS- TGSB, please reply to my Super Bowl message if you haven't already. Cheers.

well spidey.
it may have escaped you but a med student (ie to be a Dr.) course is SIX YEARS long....
so as NOBODY GETS ANY FUCKING GRANTS THESE DAYS UNLESS YOUR PARENTS LIVE JUST ABOVE THE POVERTY LINE.......he will have to borrow not only the TUITION FEES, BUT ALSO ENOUGH TO LIVE OFF..... FOR FUCKS SAKE Med students were getting £20K of debt by time qualified 8 years ago.

And there I was beginning to think it took 10 years to be a doctor. 6 years at 10k per year, there are families that live on less so what the fuck are these scrounging students moaning about??? When they are driving around in there nice new Mercedes they will be moaning about how difficult their job is and how underpaid it is and how difficult it is to live on 50k pa. My heart fucking bleeds for them.

|
|
Post by Hooky on Feb 2, 2004 0:42:12 GMT
its not 10K a year though is it.
£3K on tuition fees...med students will be charged as much as possible.
£1k on materials required for course
£2K + on rent
£5K to LIVE off
I've been there, I'd have been better off on the fucking DOLE......
In fact that is the fucking problem, you can go on the dole, and get more than students get.

Or you can get your head down and get on with it like the rest of us do, then when you have qualified start paying back what the rest of us have lent you at a very good interest rate tax deductible and deferred and not payable until you are earning over 15k soon to be reviewed and increased.

Thats not the issue.
Most students & ex students actually favour a graduate tax, like the aussies have.
that way you don't have the physological buden of seeing the debt rack up.
of even it put them tottaly off going in first place

Post by jaykaye on Feb 2, 2004 1:01:57 GMT
That is exactly the issue, if you want to talk about student grants/tuition fees start a thread or continue the one that already exists on the other board. This one is supposed to be about football.

3 CLASSICS FROM CENTRAL SPORT THIS SEASON 1) Peter Thorne scored his 3rd goal against us past goalkeeper Alexander. i.e. his own goalkeepr 2) Keith Andrews shot against PNE was the pre cursor to our penalty equaliser. Despite the fact he was playing for Wolves at the time. ??? 3) Wimbledon's win at Stoke was their 1ST away win of the season. copyright Bob Hall - Wins at WBA do not count!
