For tea I’ve got two options. Homemade Fishfinger wraps with tartar sauce shredded cabbage and tomato. Or homemade meat feast pizza. It’s getting late so need an opinion ASAP? I hope you went for meat feast pizza Certainly did. See a couple of posts above😬

Like living in a sauna now. 20 something degrees, overcast and drizzly. Eight hour shift inside later isn't going to be fun, thankfully I'm not in the kitchen with its industrial size mixers and cookers. 😓

Just been out with the missus to do some "essential" shopping. Stinking hot in the car on our 30 minute journey home and.......the aircon has packed in ! It was like sitting in a sauna even with the windows wide open and the air blasting in.

Tyskie is Mrs Q's favourite at the moment. Has a bit of an aftertaste to me, I prefer Zywiec. Especially with a few fruit vodka shots.
As for drinking too early? No such thing. It's always evening somewhere.

@ I like zywiec, but I didn't mention it, coz I'm never certain I've spelled it correctly, but another fine lager. Don't tell anyone, but I'm on magners today, the offy didn't have any decent lager in and I detest carling, fosters, etc.

Our nautical buddies will tell you what a yard arm is Chuffed. Although think hard about your next move if they offer to show you theirs.

Normal service resumes weather wise on the Welsh coast, it's August so it's pissing down with rain again. Same in Sunny Stoke. Was hoping to have a real go at the back garden this week, got two hours into yesterday and the heavens opened. Hasn’t really stopped since. Now I’m bored😟 I’ve applied for more jobs than actually exist I think and all the house jobs are finished. Any recommendations on cheap hobbies to keep me busy?

I'm fortunate that I'm living in the same place as my hobby which basically involves getting caked in oil and other crap cleaning steam engines, chopping wood and other volunteering jobs around the railway. At least it's outside and doesn't cost a penny. Depends on what your interests are I guess.

I shall be joining you in the ranks of the unemployed tomorrow, Hartshill. 10 years at the same company, in my 50's & found out yesterday that our company is going into liquidation tomorrow. Deep joy. Hence my rant on the inane tv thread or whatever it was yesterday. My head flipped a bit.
Sh1t happens, I'm far from the only one in this position, and things will improve I'm sure. Just feels a bit like the world is caving
As for cheap hobbies - I took up (kit) model building again a couple of years ago. Some of the kits are well expensive but there's still plenty of cheap ones knocking about too. Good for whiling away an hour or too with some music on in the background.
Baiting the usual suspects on here - just drop into a thread, leave a wild statement knocking someone's views and then disappear to watch the carnage from a distance. Always good for a spot of fun.
Binge-watching box sets - getting to the end of Buffy with Mrs Q on Amazon Prime now. Discovered Prime has Farscape and Babylon 5 so that's the next two box sets lined up. Also discovered they have quite a few Emmanuelle films. Think I shall have to watch those for the sake of nostalgia. When Mrs Q's at work, that is.

Sorry to hear that, it’s only just begun hasn’t it. But like you say sh1t happens and you dust yourself off and go again. In the meantime you need hobbies to pass the time. The Oatcake baiting and binge box sets are already a regular theme although I’m bored of watching a TV now. Model building is something I’m looking into but I’m not sure I’ll have the patience, maybe I can just get a simple one to begin with and see how it goes.I used to draw pubs from around Stoke on Trent so might dust off the old pencils and get going on that again.

Yep, got to stay positive. Would be far too easy to go into a downward spiral.
Model building does require patience - but no more so than most hobbies. I get engrossed in it & suddenly pwow! two hours have gone by. What's most difficult for me is seeing what I'm doing with my crappy eyesight. And picking the fiddly little bits up with tweezers because my right hand is numb (nerve damage). Maybe I should redefine my chosen hobby as "model building and swearing".
I have to admit I'm in awe of people that can draw or paint. I just can't do anything arty like that. Painting by numbers is about as good as I ever got. Yet painting e.g. camouflage on a warplane model is a doddle. I even once repainted a (real) green landrover all over with black & white zebra stripes. It looked awesome. But I had shapes & contours given to me with those to start from. Freehand drawing on a blank canvas? Just too daunting for me.
You may have hit on a new hobby - rock up at a pub, have a pint (or three) whilst drawing it. Move on, another pub, another drawing and another pint (or three). Carry on until oblivion. Reviewing how the artistic efforts progressed the following day should be great fun.

I’m not a particularly arty person I just have a penchant for pubs. I’ll take a photo and “copy” it back at home (with a few beers). In the early part of lockdown when not going work was an absolute joy, I suggested to the Mrs that we should paint a portrait of each other. So we sat at the dining table across from each other for about 6 or 7 hours. The end results were hilarious, so much so we are getting them framed and on display for people to laugh at. Now my lady has a degree in fine art so hers was pretty good although I have to say I didn’t realise I looked so Turkish. Mine has been described in some quarters as Andy Warhol esque, whether that’s meant as a compliment or not is immaterial to me, I’ll take that comparison every day of the week🤣 Time to sharpen the pencils!

Brilliant !!! althought possibly not a route to marital harmony for most couples. My portrait of Mrs Q would come out something like the picture below. Hers of me wouldn't be printable on the Oatcake. I believe it also means pregnant goldfish. If we actually tried the portrait thing, there would be blood on the carpets.
