If someone asks you who you support and without hesitation you say "Stoke City" then you are a true supporter.
Great point MrFlirty.
Falkez, I guess your closest teams are Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, maybe even Watford. I am surrounded by United, City, Liverpool and a few Everton here (Stockport County don't count:) and MrFlirty is right, whenever I am asked who I suport it is Stoke City, straight off. And alway with the CITY after it, I hate it when we just get refered to as Stoke!

It's sadly a mark of the intolerance that has been prevalent amongst some of the supporters, and contributors to this Board. If that could change so that we could all support our own (incl other supporters new and old, chairman, manager, chief exec, players, get my drift!) then perhaps this Club really is going really places - and it'll could be a whole heap of fun! Comme ooooonnnn Stokies!!

I think it comes from within, it’s not a matter of whether you are there every week, it’s like religion you either feel it or you don’t. If someone is lucky enough or has the finances to attend every game year in year out then that is fantastic but I don’t think any supporter should be calling someone who for whatever reason can’t attend every game a part time supporter.
I don’t think a club like ours can afford to alienate one single possible supporter, we don’t have millions out there waiting to take up seats at the games. What we have is a dedicated band of people, who love the club, want to see them progress and find a level of success in the top tier.
A true supporter is one who wants Stoke to win every game, wants them to succeed whoever is manager, owner or wherever we are in the league. I think we truly have supporters like that, people who have a passion for the club. We may not always agree with how things are done at the club but the one thing we all agree on, we are Stoke and if you point the finger at people because they can’t attend every game then you have either no commitments in life or simply a very narrow outlook on what makes a supporter.
We are all Stoke supporters whether we attend regularly or once in a blue moon the true feeling for the club come from within the individual and for me that is more than enough for anyone to be a true supporter.
I was unable to attend for health reasons for a while but I still kicked every ball, same goes for supporters scattered about the world, they kick every ball, feel every defeat and celebrate every victory so for me not even a debate or shouldn’t be, Stoke supporters are the best you will find.

WHy should we be having this dabate anyway? Surely that fact that we are on this board to check up on the latest news / stories / gossip is testament enough to say we are all stoke supporters... ezpecially when we are supposed to be working lol!

Well by the time I signed off last night I had just one reply from "onlyonesirstan" which was all I needed to hear I guess.
However, Ive just logged on and read all the replies and thanks to everyone for their comments and one things certain, Im an even more proud Stoke City supporter now than ever before.
Thanks boys and lets hope we do it this season!!!

It's not the people who live 200 miles away and have families to look after. It's the people who don't and still don't come.

Most Saturdays when I was living in Cardiff I would still head down to a pub and watch Soccer Saturday, and as the Stoke goals came through I would leap and cheer by myself most of the time, and get threatening looks from all around. I may not have been able to go this season until Tuesday nights game, but I never hide away from the fact that I am a Stoke fan, love the club, and will cheer them on whether we are three up and in the play-offs, or seven down at home and struggling.
A lot of people cannot afford to spend £20 each week to see Stoke (although, when you're including travel, food and drink it's a lot more. And thats if you haven't got kids or a partner to take...), so when they have special offers on, it is a good opportunity for people to take advantage and be able to afford to go. Surely people coming as a one-off and boosting the crowd to closer to 20000 instead of 13000 can't be a bad thing.

Every Saturday morning, 10.00am (3pm Stoke Time) it doesn't matter where I am, who I am with or what I am doing, there is only one thing I can think about. That feeling you get in your stomach, knowing Stoke are playing, wishing you could be there, desperately trying to arrange your Saturday so that you can get to a computer and listen to the game, or at least snatch a look at the score. The miserable feeling after a bad result, the jump around the room excitement after a good one, those feeling never go away, regardless of whether or not you go to the game. My American girlfriend (can't call her a Yank, she's southern and would slit my throat!) cannot understand my obsession, so i'm bringing her back to Stoke for the Burnley game.....I don't expect she'll ever truly understand but I want her to see for herself just how much Stoke City means to the people at home, and maybe I won't have to defend my strange Saturday morning behaviour quite as much after she visits the Brit.
Once a Stokie,always a Stokie. End of.

my wifes the same, she doesnt understand the fuss but she knows how much results affect my mood. She saw two sides to me on Tuesday, first half happy and bouyant, second half, quiet and tetchy.
So I concur if the feelings are there and the will for the boys to win are there, then you're a true Stokie.

An ex would sometimes text me after the game cos depending on how we got on would depend on my mood that evening. Eg of a text would include: 'You won. Does that mean I'm going to get some tonight?' ;D haha.

If somebody supports Stoke, they should be welcomed with open arms, people to do not take into account the circumstances of others. I'm a season ticket holder and I go to as many away as possible (7 so far this season) but that doesn't make me any more of a fan or worthy of opinion than someone who can't go.
