On paper, Doyle and Ebanks-Blake is a decent forward line for a club like Wolves (and with Iwelumo and Keogh on the bench). That's 4 strikers better than the strikers that WBA started the season with last season (Bednar, Miller, Craig Beattie and Moore) Are Keogh and Iwelumo really better than what West Brom had? I'll be very surprised if those two get five goals between them next season. I'm just really glad we haven't signed Doyle; as Rob has said, we might as well just play Kitson. Ebanks-Blake could well be excellent; we'll just have to wait and see. I certainly wouldn't swap him for Fuller, though, personally. In reality, we'll have a better squad (team, at least) at the start of the season than any of the promoted sides, if we don't bring *anybody* in. That doesn't mean that we'll necessarily finish above them, though, of course!

Doyle was always worth more than kitson in my opinion, different players, but doyle is a finisher and got a lot of goals last season. Wolves have a good forward line now, both doyle and ebanks know where the net is, think they'll stay up with those two.

I never saw how he was going to fit into our system and for the money it was never going to be viable for us. For me Wolves need to worry about the midfield and back more than any where else. Jarvis is a class act and often doesn't get the credit Kightly gets but they'll both be able to step up and create chances. Ebanks Blake is a fat fast thing that's tricky to mark but I don't rate any of their central mids or defenders. Glad to see Mick is addressing the wrong end of the pitch.

Doyle got a lot of goals last season yes, but so did Kitson when he last played a full Championship season. Plus, Kitson outscored Doyle fairly convincingly during their last season both playing in the Prem at Reading.

He started last season well, but has hardly scored for about six months, has he?

I saw Wolves play last season and while they played some decent stuff I thought they looked a bit lightweight, especially in midfield. People harp on about how physical the championship is but the prem is far more physically demanding IMO.

Looks like Surman's heading to Wolves as well, another of our erstwhile rumoured "targets" from around January time.

100% that we have been keen on Surman in the past
however I think given we have Etherington & given Pughs form last season Surman would have, imho, gone way down our list
Wolves are making sensible signings imho but they do need some players with decent prem experience.
not sure about Doyle personally but Ebanks-Blake looks the business to me.
proof will be in the pudding though of course.

Can Reading buy Kitson now? Does anyone know if he is still renting a house in stone

If they have signed him for £6.5 mill then I think they have paid £3.5 mill over the odds. He would have been a good addition for us as a squad player IMO but nothing more. I feel Wolves could have got better for that price, but time will tell.
