i've been going to nearly 3/4 of this season games. and he's been progressing well through all of them. every game he's been getting better & growing with conifdence. maybe people are starting to think, he's not just in the team for his throws, for one i am ;D anyone else? comments..

Consistently excellent over the last 3 months or so. One of the first names on the sheet at present.

He's ok, not bad Not too excited but not bad
the trouble is you get this enthusiasm sometimes about players who have been below par for many a game and then have a good game, before not to long they're superstars, Owen Hargreaves being a good example
Delap? -hes ok I suppose

he is showing the form now that made him once cost 4 million

A fit Delap is like another new midfield signing. We replace the old, out-of-form player but get to keep the throws.
I always rated him when he was at Derby. I suppose that's how he earned his £4m price tag.

Can't agree naughty, granted he doesn't play many defence splitting passes but his work rate and covering he has done for the back four has been top stuff. I never ever thought I'd be saying it 4 months ago but he's got himself fit and both he and the team are reaping the benefits.

I thought he was absolutely woeful at the start of the season. In fact, I'd completely written him off. I don't know whether it's entirely down to him building his fitness levels up, but he's gradually got better. He started to become not noticeably bad, then you started to notice him doing lots of good things, and he's been consistently good for a while now - verging on VERY good in the last few matches, which is a hell of a shock.

Completely agree with you Fuller.
His header on Saturday was taken well, a lot of players would have panicked and fluffed that.

Jamo
Hes ok, I'm not saying hes bad
not ready not give him this 'must be in the team ' status just yet
but I'm hopeful
Its like John Eustace, the bloke I sit with , a fellow ST holder thought he still was the bees knees, I thought he was crap
Its all about opinions

I'm a convert, didn't think he was up to the job at the start of the season but he's been fantastic since Christmas.

See we can agree on something ;D I thought Eusty was a shadow of himself and the one to be dropped had he have stayed with us.

i have been suprised by delap this season, i am very impressed with him. i thought when he come back from his injury he is going to be shite, but fair play to him. with those throws and our defence and strikeforce, we are laughing. ;D

Perhaps he's improving because he's getting more used to playing full games after such a long lay off. He might have started the season in poor form but an injuury that bad and a lay off that long takes some recovering from.

Jo thats pretty much my surmise about Rory that injury was pretty horrific and it's not just all about fitness you have to be mentally strong to recover from such injuries. Well don't Rory and long may your recovery continue.

all this shit about eustace doing the job of 2 so underperforming earlier on really was shite.
Perhaps delap was " doing the job of two" and now useless is gone, he is performing very well....

Continues to improve a few % with each passing game and I'm delighted to say that he has become an excellent addition to the squad.
Against the background of what has been happening in the "Greed is good" Premiership we did the decent thing by honouring Rory's contract when he was injured and he seems committed to repaying us.
Well done Pulis because in Whelan, Diao, Lawrence and Delap we have a midfield quartet to rival anyone in this league.

Rory was excellent Saturday and he is now a very important part of the squad . At beginning of the season I just saw him as another journeyman who offered little. He has improved dramatically as his fitness levels got better.
On Saturday in that wide left position I thought before the match he would be very suspect but he scored one, did excellent defensive work and gave Whelan a top class pass from which Whelan put through Liam for the third goal.

I have to agree with that 100%. It's exactly how I felt about Delap at the beginning of the season and he has really come on in leaps and bounds in the last 5 games or so. I noticed in the last few home games where he made excellent runs tracking back to break up attacks and put a few decent balls in for his team-mates.

I love him if only for the unorthodox throws. Simple but so hard to defend due to how flat he gets them into the box.

Delap is in fantastic form at the moment. Since Christmas he has been one of our better players. The workrate he si getting through is nothing short of first class- tracking back etc.
One of his better previous games (in my opinion) was at Palace when he was on the left wing too. This Saturday he was superb.
Like many others I had virtually written him off up until the start fo December although I also thought Eustace was very suspect. Meaning we needed to get 2 midfielders in.
Diao has a long way to come from what I have seen on his past 2 showings whereas Whelan was great on Satuday. You should never judge a player on just 1/2 performances and we know that Salif is better than his recent form (OK, by form I mean one week)
Perhaps Delap will be moved to right back and Griffin over to left back, or he will be shifted out to the left wing on a more permanaent basis. TP could also leave Diao/Whelan on the bench
One thing for certain is that Delap deserves his place
Well done Rory

They did indeed move them closer, it didn't stop him having an absolutely great game though ;D. That header away where he got kicked in the face in the process was one of many class instances of tidying up. Come on leaps and bounds since christmas due to growing confidence and self assurance after his injury
