looking at fixture list it makes sense really, preston game switch and there a glut of games coming in march so spreads them out a bit better. (originally tue march 4th)

Its on the scunthorpe website. I know that the games in March seem a bit hectic, but this seems a strange decision to me. So its now 3 games in 6 days, what ever were stoke thinking of.

Makes sense really. They've no game on the 16th as they were playing Wolves who are still in the cup.
It saves us having to request a switch to the 5th and having to play seven games in March.

Got to be something to do with the Police not wanting us and Fail both at home at the same time. It's not going to be televised.

Didn't we play Grimsby in the FA Cup on the Monday and the 2nd replay the Wednesday the same week. 1-1 and 6-0?
We then beat Cardiff in the 4th round on the Saturday

When's the last time we played a non-televised home league game on a Friday night?
I know March was looking hectic generally, but 3 crucial games in 6 days will be a massive test.

Didn't we play Darlington on a Friday night in 1991/92? Won 3-0 and Prudders was in goal for them.

Bugger - I'm coming back for the Wolves and Southampton games and then flying back to Jersey on the Wednesday - if I knew this game was going to be played on the Friday, I could have stayed an extra few days, flew back on Saturday morning and still made it back here in time to play in my own Jersey league game on the Saturday afternoon!!

Billyonions, that bought back some memories.I remember my first trip to Tranmere was for a friday night game.We won 2-1 with a Mick Kennedy penalty.Think it was around 1990 under Alan Ball.Loved that kit we played in that night, the yellow with black.Think it was also the first time i ever sang"city, city top of the league".Happy days.

4PM UPDATE: CITY HAVE NO FEARS ABOUT FIXTURE PILE-UP Be the first reader to comment on this story
17:26 - 06 February 2008
Stoke City's first-team coach Mark O'Connor says the management and players have no fears about taking on three games in less than a week.City have brought forward their home game with Scunthorpe from Tuesday, March 4 to next Friday.
That will conclude a hectic few days as City travel to Wolves on Saturday before entertaining Southampton next Tuesday.
However, O'Connor has revealed manager Tony Pulis supported the switch.
He said: "The manager feels the squad is in good form so it is a case of bring it on.
"We have enough bodies covered in enough positions.
"March will be very busy and this is an opportunity to get that game in.
"Also if we get people booked this weekend, they wouldn't be suspended for next weekend as there is a seven-day window with bookings.
"Danny Pugh and Rory Delap are one game away from suspension so both could play.
"I think every game we play at the moment, people say it is a tough game, which of course it is.
"But I think the opposition are looking at us that way now."
City wanted to move the Scunthorpe game to Saturday, February 16 as they have a free weekend owing to Preston's FA Cup commitments.
However, Port Vale are at home against Swansea on the Saturday so City will play on the Friday instead.
The game will be Tunstall-born striker Martin Paterson's first visit to the Britannia since his summer move to Scunthorpe.
He has scored 12 goals since moving to Glanford Park in a deal worth an initial £275,000 plus add-ons for appearances.

Great news, in the summer we booked a week away 1st to 8th of March and when the fixtures came out I saw that I was going to miss the Sunday Sky match and then two home games on the Tuesday and Saturday. Cheers Adie
