Why we keep singing a song about Man Utd is just beyond me. I'm sure someone can explain it.

Why we keep singing a song about Man Utd is just beyond me. I'm sure someone can explain it. What makes you think its a song about Manure? The song was first song by the Southhampton fans, when the sang "Oh when the SAINTS". Then adapted by liverpool when they sang "Oh when the REDS".

March4 we need to nail this one, its not about Manu otherwisse i wouldnt be singing it.It has been sung downt the Vic since the early 70s...thats four decades...also sung in a pretty sad slow way that reflects the fact that we will be marching a long time until we get "in"...close your eyes and enjoy it mate, as its a pretty amazing sound I`ve just heard on you tube

If Wolves can sing "Oh when the Wolves..", why can't we manage "oh when the Stoke..."
I will never sing the gloryhunters song "oh when the reds...."

we play in red, but you wont sing it because some other team you dislike plays in red and sings it, how pathetic ... to be frank.
I've heard the welsh rugby fans sing delilah, and I can't stand them

Also "the Wolves" is English and correct use of language whilst "the Stoke" is not. maybe we should sing "oh when the red and white stripes, sometimes with yellow tops sometimes with Black shorts but definitly not ever glory hunting bastards from Manchester...go marching in"

Oh when the Reds is sung by ManUre and Scouse fans at every game and their glory hunting 'fans' are laughing their socks off at us.
We'll be singing 'Blowing Bubbles' next and 'Howay the Lads'.
Good volume, but wrong song.
It is not the song I have a problem with, it is the association with 'The Reds'. There are only 2 clubs regularly called 'The Reds' and Stoke City are not in that group.
How about Stoke or Stripes or.... I'm running out of ideas, but please no more Reds.

March4- you really annoy me.. what an absolutely stupid post that was. We play in red ffs and we always have. It is about time you grew up and stopped being so bloody childish. Does the word 'dick' in Delilah make you cringe and go home crying to mummy?

march4: we've been singing it as "oh when the reds" for as long as I have been going games, I couldn't give a flying what the gloryhunters think, its sounds effing awsome and they do not have copyright over "red" in a football related chant

Does the word 'dick' in Delilah make you cringe and go home crying to mummy? I think that was a little uncalled for young man! And just for information we do not play in red and have never played in red. If anything we play in white with a few red stripes. 75% of our kit must be white. Next week should we sing 'Wonder of you'? Perhaps we can do a rendition of other clubs' songs. You might even use some of you local influence to get the Kop to sing Delilah once in a while to reciprocate. Come on lighten up a little. I think your over reaction is due to the simple fact that you have come to realise how stupid we sound.

the shit steal most of their songs anyway, they even stole their nick-name off the Salford RL team, can see where you're coming from but this has been sung by us for as long as i can remember.
oh when the spurs oh when the wolves oh when the saints
does it matter ffs

Uncalled for? No, that is me expressing my feeling and that is free speech. How stupid we sound? Maybe you want to go back and read the posts you have put on this thread and then realise how stupid you sound. We have sang this song for as long as I can remember and it is part of our football hymn book. When Tony Pulis' barmy army is sang do you disagree with it because technically not all of the crowd are members of the army? Abdoulaye my lord because technically he is not the lord however the lord is perceived to be God a mythical figure?

March4, have a look at the photo on Markscfc72 post, quite a lot of red on that me thinks. ive been singing about the reds of stoke city since 1972, now Im not prepared for you to tell me I`ve really been supporting Man u during that time. Any way, weve been wearing red since 1863, many years before the S**t arrived as a team called Newton Heath ( I think!)
