All you have to remember about Wright is that he operates at the level of being Adrian Durham's gimp.

He left MOTD apparently when it was pointed out to him that he was being used as the jester by the rest of the team. The clown thought he was actually being used for his footballing knowledge. The stupid deluded fool, was the bbc's play monkey.

There is an editorial formula on TalkSport. It is borrowed from tabloid journalism. You take an issue (often an emotional one) which attracts a range of points of view and you force an 'either / or' binary choice for your listener from it. You seek to polarise opinion. It creates friction which equals entertainment.
Wright is not stupid, but he is necessary. His role in this is to try to weight up. And so he comes across as the bloke who doesn't really know what he thinks. Durham's role is to be so bloody certain that he can condemn anyone who disagrees as deluded.
You might as well do algebra, because the approach, the treatment and the answers are all meaningless. It is just a formula applied to any topic you like which generates a consistent result.
Durham is actually quite skillful at it. He generally manages to piss off all reasonably minded people and make Wright look like the thick side-kick. So don't get offended, there is no real opinion involved. You wouldn't know it to listen to him that deep inside that head of his, lies a complete vacuum.

I agree with you about Durham malvern but I honestly think Wright is just intrinsically stupid.

Him and Durham are a fucking waste of space. I remember Wright belting the ball in to the Stoke fans in petulance when we played Arsehole in the cup. Could quite easily have hurt someone.
On that show he reminds me of a performing monkey.

He was stupid on MOTD, stupid on Gladiators, stupid presenting the lottery, stupid on that programme where professionals played a celebrity team. He's an utter, utter moron.

This is why Wright is no longer on TV. He is a thick, useless individual who doesn't even know who his own children are!

He is a talentless annoying pratt with a fanbase built around 'salt of the earth' cockney white van drivers who call him a 'Lege'. In reality he is a sad reflection on our media who feelobliged to employ people like him out of some misplaced loyalty to diversity and edginess. A total pratt deserving of the highest abuse wherever possible
