i have counted the amount of times that i've heard his name on the radio today. I counted 7 in total for the whole game.
To me this sums up his contribution to the team, the fact that he keeps either amdy faye or etherington out is a joke really considering that ( in my opinion anyway) he offers very little to us in terms of whether we're in possesion or not

I used to love the way this guy played but today and against Bolton, he was simply crap! Not good enough to boss the midfield today. 1st half they ripped our midfield apart and needed Salif to be on his game today. Perhaps the reason they had so many little neat passes from midfield towards our box was that Salif was crap today. Amdy Faye hasn't been too bad recently so why didn't he play?

I dont think Delap deserves a place in the team,as he is playing poorly, and the throw ins arent as deadly now

Controversially (maybe) Id opt for
Lawrence Faye Whelan Etherington
Thinks it has a nice balance and agree about Delaps limited contribution of late

Im with that one Mark, but it does mean Lenny and Ethers have to put a big shift in covering back too.

It's also been a long time since Lawrence made a meaningful contribution in open play. He's still the best we have at whipping in a good set piece, but in open play his contribution has been limited. He also has me forever thinking hes one bad tackle from being sent off. For me our best midfield would be: Etherington; Amdy; Whelan; Tonge.

However at home (and at home only) I wouldn't be too dissapointed if Rory started on one of the flanks at the expense of Lenny or Ethers. Amdy and Whelan should be nailed on for me though.

Salif is not playing well enough to keep his place. Far too slow. I far prefer Amdy. Stokemark's midfield is bang on.

Do we see the same aggression and fight from Salif??

Fate decreed that I should have to sit amongst the home fans at Goodison Park and even they could not resist commenting on just how poor Salif Diao was.
Of course, as an ex-Liverpool players they were probably always going to look to criticise him but, to be fair, they were dead right.
I hope TP hasn't backed himself into a corner with his previous comments about Salif being the best midfielder at the club "by a country mile" because the bloke just doesn't cut it. There are occasional good tackles but, for the most part, he's slow, clumsy, gives away a stupid amount of free-kicks and has a pass distribution ratio to team-mates that would have embarassed Ian Cranson.

He's not the best at the moment and a decent manager should see that and play our best players available for their positions.
Lawrence, Whelan, Faye, Etherington
Beattie, Fuller
for next Saturday please TP
But we will probably see Sidibe Delap and Diao in there.

This is a difficult one. Our worst run of form came when Diao was out of the team. He comes back (with Mama) and things perk up.
It is one hell of a gamble to jettison them both when they are the spine of the team. We have the most important run of four games for as long as I can remember. The 10 year future of our club is at stake.
Does TP gamble or stick with his tried and trusted men? I think we all know the likely answer.

Since coming back from his injury he has looked 5-6 yards off the pace, i like him and think he is a good player but he needs to be fitter and more mobile, his lack of mobility puts more pressure and work upon Whelan and Amdy.

Ive been saying for weeks how toss he is and when he just 30% fit HE STARTS END OF!!!
Delap was crap and slow yesterday and for away games especially we need busy pacey players ie Fuller Etherington to keep the ball and push them back.
