I'm not involved in or never have been involved in fighting at games.
But i found the realt football factorie quite interesting. I also find the hooligan books a good read. I am looking t do my university dissertation on something to do with football violence so if this gets going. I wouldn't mind paying a visit like

Understand everyone will all get their share ( or want their slice)
If part of the money goes to a charity, suggest one connected to victims of crime ( genuinely)
Neither for or against TBH..wasn't involved in the scene , not saying right wrong or indifferent , just not my scene , though perhaps enjoyed being the hunted before stoke turned hunter
Anyone who travelled away consistantly with stoke in the mid 70 to mid 80's ( in my case mostly by service train) when stokes numbers could be very small will TBH have similar stories as those put on the top table..only differance was any non stoke up their would have been hunting the likes of me ,regardless of what they might say years later..
From that era many stokies will have first hand experience either of being the hunter or being the hunted , they can and do swap those stories in the pubs , at games with oppo fans on trains , on holiday etc ..just not sure if they'll pay for the privilidge of doing something that many already do in their pub for free.
hope this gives you a honest idea of how many of Stoke's non 'hardcore' hardcore might think..they'll be interested , but not perhaps enough to pay, particular if it carries with it a high police or club interest..it's hard enough for some to keep their ID cards as it is

Sounds like a good night, anyone who thinks the scene is and was just about a good toe to toe obviously wouldnt be interested!
Ive been no angel in the past and it was more about the crack with the lads, the clothes, the music etc etc, the toe to toes were just part and parcel of the scene

I remember going to match in 70s at the age of 6yrs and seeing a young lad bleeding under coppers coat and have been haunted ever since. I have never before or after been so scared! Yes glory days indeed I'm sure he had been bravely stabed by one of those hero warriors.
Bastds the lot of them and there is nothing to celebrate and no I would not want to tell the idiots to their faces as I sure they would not understand.

petershiltonsmini.... I have never condoned or glorified violence.....I do not look upon the lads as hero warriors..and you may be surprised to learn that neither do they....
Like it or not "the casual culture" is now a permenent part of football culture as a whole, look around you the next time you are in any ground....look at the amount of persons in the so called "casual gear"....they have all been influenced by the same thing..... and they are all fans the same as you......Please do not tar all with the same brush,,,

The point of the football factories series on sky was that west ham fan glorified the violence of football thugs who made up the so called factories. Do not try and make this about a fashion statment. You and the others are glorifying these people who afforded noteriety through acts of violence which weren't always aimed at rival "firms".
It is you who should look around at the inocent victims of violent crime and see it for its puke inducing reality.

petershiltonsmini no one is setting out to glorify anything mate.....we have a university professor attending to give the academic and social side of everything....we have lads there who are now well repected commentators on the whole "casual culture" and who have a message to pass on.....The question and answer session is included to perhaps inject a bit of humour.....but also to open up debate about everything to do with this issue.

maybe but any thing to do with "firms" or "factories" only deserves scorn and this event as described will draw in some of those that like to revil in these so called glory days.
So no I'm not missing the point, any way I have made my points. If its what you want enjoy, I will not support such things as it brings back bad memories

petershiltonsmini....of course i respect your views mate.... but the real mistake here is to bury ones head in the sand and try to pretend that this whole casual thing has gone away......
O ne of the reasons we decided to try and organise the events was to examine why the phenomenon is so big.......Never our intention to glorify anything mate..

look at the title of your thread its about "factories" otherwise known as firms.
Nothing in the title suggests this is a nice chat about casual culture.
