Why the hatred for him, yes he scored against us but can anyone explain why he is so unpopular ? ??? I think he's a good player.

Great player and no real problem with him personally, as has been said though he is anonymous for England, then again who really cares about the national team anymore anyway?

I think it's because he's a preening mardarse who never turns up for England and doesn't perform in the big games. Never turns up for England? He's been the best Midfielder under Capello. Granted he was poor under McLaren but who wasn't? All the goals he waded in with in qualifying for the last world cup as well, i think he deserves his place as centre midfielder!

I should have said "hasn't turned in for England for about 3 years". He was appalling in the world cup and appalling in the qualifiers for the Euros. He also has a tendency to become totally anonymous when Chelsea play anyone good (yes yes I know he scored in the Champions' League final, but he did fuck all else). His performances have improved for England (although they're not spectacular for a player hyped to the extent he is) and I agree he deserves his place in it at the moment.

Exactly if he scored in the world cup final for England i dont think anyone would hate him I genuinely do not give two shits about England, its the fact his ridiculously over-paid, and a smug fat twat for having a decent amount of talent, but not so much that the world should kiss his arse at every opportunity.

For me it comes down to when, last year, he refused to sign a new contract with Chelsea at £125,000 a WEEK (= £6,500,000 a year; £744.04 an hour), and held out for £135,000 a WEEK (= £7,020,000 a year; £803.57 an hour), which he got. Far from the only player who's obscenely overpaid, but it was the way he virtually pleaded that he couldn't live on ONLY £125,000 a week which got me.
There's also a certain smugness in his demeanour and appearance which means I can't help but dislike him - probably totally irrational, but hatred usually is.

Has an incredibly hot wife yet has been regularly seen out with other birds in rather intimate situations.
Epitomy of the wank England team under McLaren
Always whingeing like a little bitch to referees
Loves himself and isn't afraid to show it
In essence, his demeanour is of the sort that if he was just a regular 30 year old, he would get himself twatted just about anywhere for being a cock. The measure of a man?

Those two balls be put through to Stoch in the final minutes were true class. If only Whelan could do that, and if only we had a winger who could be found near the touchline!!

Baggz - i can understand what you mean, but in a game that pays young working class boys 100k a week it's not that surprising that some are a bit full of themselves is it, i mean it's a short step from confidence to bravado to arrogance!!!!

Frank Lampard could never be described as working class, he went to a private school, and got an A* @ Latin en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Lampard#Biography

The measure of a man? The delight he takes in putting one over on his old club, West Ham, portrays him in a bad light, too. Not to mention the make-up. Simply, why?!

There's a really wanky thing on the last page of one of the mags that comes with the Sunday paper (think it's Times). Frank was in there a while back, before he'd been shagging away, a lovely photo of him, his car and his missus. He was talking about how he got the papers delivered on a Sunday: "The Telegraph and the Mail, because I like to be well-informed about what's going on in the world."
The fucking Mail! They make the Woodbine Wrightwat comic strips look like Pulitzer-winning journalism!
You're a twat Frank, and I hate you.
I would point to the several examples in our own Stoke team of people who have come from rough backgrounds and still conduct themselves like gentlemen (Dogger Lawrence doesn't work in my favour on this one does he?)

we slated him on Saturday when he took the corners right infront of us, then he whipped one in and you heard quite a few who'd been berating him say 'great cross'. Thought he played well and continues to play well for Chelsea and its just frustrating with the whole club verses country thing, he simply doesn't seem to show for the national side!

Ring-kissing, heaven-pointing, shirt-smootching twat - whose contributions to the England cause in the last outing that really mattered was...what was it? ahhh..yes 24 shots, no goals. Much as I love my England, i'd still call him a tosser even if he scored. As you can possibly tell, I can't stand the bloke and for him to deny us 2 points was insult to injury last week.

As with all the top players in the premiership they think they are untouchables (because they pretty much are) and arrogance flow in abundance. Quality player though, and when he's playing for England my attitude towards him completely changes, which makes me 2 faced!!!
