It does make You wonder about the future of Kitson or Fuller with all this talk of more strikers.
I for one hope we steer well clear of Gray.

The Mail do have a better than average record of accuaracy with Stoke stories. Maybe the Sentinel links?
Looked a very good C'ship striker at Burnley a while back. But a loan move for a slow, 31-year-old targetman, who was awful in the Prem for S'land, would appear about as unlikely a move as is possible?
I think bizarre would probably undersell this move if it happened.
You could see the logic of getting a Dindane-type in to add some more variety, but I'm struggling to see why we'd need someone like Gray, who's basically just Diet Beattie?

It certainly sounds too weird to make up without a steer from someone, mischievous or not? Maybe it'll be a link that disappears into the ether, never to be heard of again. Or maybe he'll sign tomorrow. I'm struggling to put him higher than 5 in our potential striker pecking order though?

Equally bizarre - why a loan move? Is this just to cover for the loss of Sidibe for a few more weeks? If so, why not go for a loan at the start of the month?

Charlton are preparing for relegation and are desperate to reduce the wage bill. Nicky Weaver is / was on £22,000 per week, Ambrose not far behind nor Gray. To get somebody off the wages for only month helps them enormously. Ambrose is only back there because nobody else will pick up the tab. I know a first team regular there, who is on a basic of 'only' £1,400 per week and £3,000 per game appearance money. No bonuses if dropped, injured or suspended. £1,400 ow is only just over £70,000 per year, hardly a kings ransom by footballing standards.

Bizarre indeed- why on earth would we want an ageing and under performing striker?

Bizarre indeed- why on earth would we want an ageing and under performing striker? Perhaps if TP is shipping out Cressy and Pericard he is getting worried about finding the players to put out for the reserves? ;D

It's all gone very quiet on the Tommy Smith front. Perhaps it's just the Mail trying to pluck another obscure Championship name out of the sky?

The funny thing about Kitson (and I stand corrected if I'm wrong) but, I'm pretty sure that one he came off after being substituted on Saturday, the fans were singing his name as if he was a super hero. Can't see us doing that about our non scoring centre forward, Deon and the Belmonts, can you? It's nice to see our support is noticed

would be very suprsed if we went after gray. Very much a championship player. It would make no sense he wouldn't get a game with the forwards weve got

If he becomes our fifth choice striker it means there is a strong chance we will never see Pericard play for us again this season.
And he can't be worse than Pericard shirley?

"If he has a fault it's being over-keen which often gets him in an offside position but I would have him (Martin Paterson) over Andy Gray any day."www.qpr.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=138828Looks like Gray's coming back from a small injury and came on as a substitute at the weekend. He wasn't involved against Norwich last night though.

Surely he is just a poor version of Kitson and Beattie, and there can't be much difference between him and Cresswell.

Pericard in a swap deal?! fuck it no deal!!
Haha, seriously, I dont rate Gray that highly but he must be better than Pericard.

Bizarre indeed. If we were to sign him, even assuming Pericard and Cresswell play no further part, it would seem highly unlikely that we'd sign a further striker like Dindane or Camara.

With the best will in the world, it'd be difficult to see him starting a game in preference to Sidibe, Fuller, Kitson or Beattie.
And surely if we're going to squeeze another striking option into the pot, it'd be someone with Dindane or Camara's attributes?
Are we in need of back-up? Surely we're after difference-makers now?

If, and it's a big if, we were able to swap him for Pericard (straight swap and no money) then I suppose it wouldn't be too bad. I'm amazed that we are linked with Gray though. He was given a chance in the Premier League by Sunderland and failed spectacularly.

Surely this is just made up paper talk? He didn't cut it in the Prem last time and currently plays for a club sitting bottom of the Championship. I really can't see this happening, especially with the Camara/Harewood/Dindane stories still around.
To be honest I don't think I've ever seen him play so I don't know if he's any good? Can anyone see how he could fit into our side at all?
