I agree that good full-backs are an essential ingredient of any successful and decent side, but first and foremost, for this season at least, our full-backs need to be able to defend.
To this end, Griffin is probably the worst defender of all our full-back options (Davies excluded) but is without doubt the best and most composed on the ball.

So long as Pulis doesn't look to sign another centre back, unless they are of Fayes ability then I don't think he can go far wrong than get ball playing full backs. Wilko, Griff, Higgy are brilliant at championship level in their positions and are just about okay in the premiership but nothing wrong with trying to get better! Out of Wilko and Griff I'd go for Wilko as hes got a lot in his locker and as long as he doesnt see red so often he'll turn out to be a good premiership right back. Higgy is as good as he'll ever be at left back.

Shorey would be great but replacing Wilko is more of a priority. What I want to know is why is he favoured to Davies?

RB is a bit more pressing than a left back for me now we have etherington on the left wing to ease pressure down that side. We need a right full back who is fit, can overlap and then can recover quickly. Soomebody with a bit more pace than Griff and Wilko, hey but so does every other club watching that team mates on soccer am. lawrence said wilkinson was quickest player, that was before the summer signings though. but only etherington with real pace who we have bought really bought in after that interview

i think with etherington at left mid...he's not going to want big long hoofing long balls from higgi every time he gets the ball. More play to feet is needed.
