Where the fuck did that come from? I've just nearly choked hearing that name. Thats the memory of an elephant right there mate. Kyle Lightbourne wins the award for me, with Paul Williams a very close second. In fact the majority of that late nineties team was garbage beyond belief. I hated old 'Horse Head' Oldfield with a passion, same goes for Tweed, McMahon, Small, Stewart et al.... Marshall was dire to say the least too. We went to Luton the day of his debut, where he let in 6.

I remember David Oldfield going through on the Chesterfield keeper for a one on one (everybody sat back down) and the bugger scored! Just for that he can't be compared with the centre backs we had in the lower leagues that had absolutely no talent but just looked hard like Ben Petty... he was well known for two things: 1- Injuring his own players by passing the ball too hard in their direction. 2- Thinking that injuring the striker and getting sent off was more effective than going for the ball.
Good times.

Stefan Thordarson was a talented player, had a great shot on him... just not quick enough for the English game. Nowhere near the worst Stoke player ever.

Got to be keith scott - but if I remember rightly we somehow managed to swap him for Sheron so some good came of it.

Sorry, but I still think it is Dave Kitson. He made an effort only for the 30secs at Wigan following Abdy telling him what an idle lump he is. He might have talent, but has there ever been a less committed player at our club?
In my book, lack of effort = worst player

'Disco' Bryan for me, the only player I've seen recive a pass whilst on the touchline and let the ball go under his foot not once, but twice in one game. Utter, utter garbage. Changing the subject, those socks are fuckng ace and that Delap of the Gods artwork is awesome, turd.

Southall was in a pretty bad way when he was here, it was like someone's dad coming straight on from the pub with a bag of crisps still in his hand.

if lack of effort wins it, one year early, mid 90s we had a player on loan from wolves, maybe called Tim Steel or something like it. travelled from London to Huddersfield for a match and he played about 15 mins whilst avoiding getting the ball and bottling tackles altogether...................... remember all the boys in the stand really giving him some grief................ never worked out surprisingly.

In terms of actual footballing technique, it has to go to Justin Whittle. Very committed lad though and ended up quite popular with the Stoke faithful.
He is living proof that it is actually possible to make a (relatively) long and successful career out of playing professional football without...actually being able to play football...!
