Why does lots of yellow cards indicate he struggles? ??? Ryan has 8 yellows in 25 appearances this season does he struggle also? My god just think what he'd get if he played in the premiership! ;D

Well all I can say is I far prefer see a defender put the opposition in the stand than piss about! ;D That's what I used to love about the Macari back 4 . . .

4 1/2 years is a big surprise.
Pulis was clearly very impressed with Griffin last season, on and off the field. Wonder if this length of contract is with a view to a future roll on the coaching staff? A bit of a leap perhaps, I know Griff's not that old - but it's a very long contract by any standards.
Unless he's taking a pay cut to come here, so we've given him a longer contract to compensate. Probably more likely.

Griffin never really achaived his potential @ Newcastle due to injuries.
he was that little bit pacier when @ Stoke in his 1st spell

He unfairly got stick when he initially came back last season if you remember. He was slagged off by some for having dared to oust Hoofer from the side.
Having said that i hope he has to work his way back in this time.

I'm all for giving people second or even third chances and I don't doubt that Griff will do well for us, if I'd been TP I'd have snapped him up too.
But all the same I'm going to be one of the ones giving him a frosty reception, he can try and talk himself out of it but he did behave like a twat in the summer and he's got a lot to prove. Once he's done that, all's forgiven, but like I say it may take a while.

I wasn't overly impressed at the time but I'm willing to accept the argument that I probably would have done the same thing if somebody offered to double my wages, etc...
I guess as fans we want undivided loyalty because unlike the players we don't have the choice to walk away when we feel like it.
All will be forgiven when he puts the first opposition winger into Row C... ;D

You can't blame him for taking the opportunity to play in the Premiership (unless you're totally blinkered). If anything, we're getting a better player now than we would have gotten last season, with him having 6 months experience in the Premiership. Welcome back Griff.

mermaidsal. As in my post on the previous page, are you telling me you would not except higher wages and better prospects in a different job or area, because you want to stay loyal to your friends or work colleagues. So if your best mate left his current job and then came back later on, you would give him a frosty reception because he left in the first place, just because he wanted to try and improve his career and monthly income?

STOKE CITY: I SHOULD NEVER HAVE LEFT, SAYS GRIFFIN ...and after all the badge kissing and tapping at the end of last season. Does stick in the throat a bit, but let's hope he can prove how sorry he really is..

only, as it happens I'm one of the freaks who's not motivated by wages once the essentials of life are looked after, I've always done what I believed in, but that doesn't mean everyone else has to.
It's not the wages or the move I'm holding against Griff, it was the badge-kissing that turned out to be worthless, and a degree of ingratitude towards TP, who made him into a viable prospect for Derby. But if Griff has a good rest of this season, he'll be one of ours again and that's great.

Just quickly, hugh thankyou to all of you that have offered understanding to Griffs decision in the summer. I can asure you he was never sure if it was the right one before he even kicked a ball for Derby! Sometimes in life you have to make an uncertain decision, think it took Griff to go to Derby to realise Stoke is where he should be. Thanks for all your well wishes even off those who maynot agree with his return. Am sure if he gets back in the team he wont let you down, and will as always give 110% . Let his feet do the talking! ps, neither Giggs OR or Ronaldo got past Griff at Old Trafford when Derby played Man U the other month! thanks again! GOOD LUCK!

Welcome back Griffin lad unlucky it aint worked out at Derby and you are not sitting on a three yr deal at Derby worth 15k a week, you now realised that it was a mistake but me and thousands more would of certainly done the same back then.
He has come back on less money in the space of 7 months and signed a 4 yr + deal with STOKE CITY that will do for me.

Fuck me this 'Badge kissing bollocks' it happens when emotions are running high and playing for a paticular team its exactly that emotin with scoring a late winning goal etc etc in the last minute!
I would kiss the Man U badge if played for em then sign for Liverpool a season later and do the same there who gives a flying f....
Grow fuckin up people ffs!

My issue with Griffin is only that if we sign players on long contracts who aren't quite good enough for the Premiership then we shall be forever....not quite good enough for the Premiership.
As for "loyalty" I remember that the it was the very same chairman he shook hands with who was paying him only £300 a week for playing in the first team and put him on the first train to Newcastle before he'd even put the phone down on snatching the first bid they made.
I'm sure as far as Griff's concerned it was business then and it's business now.

Welcome back Griff and I hope the next four & a half years are the best and most enjoyable of your career.
For all those people worrying about the effect on Wilko & Dicko can I point out that if we're going to sustain our promotion effort we need at least 2 quality players in each position and therefore even with Griff we are still one full-back short. After last Sunday I'm thinking that Danny Pugh may get to stay in central midfield.

“I suppose you can get blinded by the lights of the Premiership and that’s why I chose Derby. I thought it was the last chance saloon.
All i have to say to that is shame he didn't have faith in the team Pulis is building & earn a place in the premiership with Stoke .

My opinion for what its worth is this:-
we should welcome Griffin back, everyone makes mistakes and he went for the bright lights of the premiership However, I hope Tony Pulis views him as I do I.e. as cover for our two existing full bakcks who, have done very nicely in the meantime thank you very much
AND if we have indeed robbed leeds by selling Sweeney for £170K - Signing Andy Griffin on virtually the same day (FOR £300K) looks like excellent business to me

Why shouldn't he have signed for Derby? He wasn't our player, he was offered a choice between Premiership and Championship, and 99.99% of footballers would do the exact same thing. What exactly did he do wrong?

Nothing rob exactly.
More money to play in the prem or less money and play in the championship? Tough inna it!!!
