Smashing player even though we had him right at the end of his career. Well deserved honour.

He's welcome to it....! Great player for us too. Along with other Lancashire greats Stanley Matthews sure he was a Stokie through and through!

What does the freedom of the City actually mean? Can he just like walk into W H Smiths- flash his card of whatever they give him and help himself to a packet of Ringos and copy of Viz for instance? Can he go into his local Wimpy and demand his favourite table? I don't get it or is it just a title ? Can he go into neighbour's houses with a better widescreen TVs etc and demand they turn on 'Jeremy Kyle' and make him a cup of tea?
What can he do others cant?

I think it'd just an honorary title which only entitles him to take 10% of any Claret supporters' wages, break in any Virgins from the Blackburn Link Road to Colne and allows him to drive his Cattle up the High Street in Burnley without fear of prosecution. (Would anyone notice the Cows??) ;D

Well that's a piss poor honour.
10 percent of all all claret's wages- ok that's another 142 quid a week in his pocket in total I suppose to start. Break in any Virgin from Blackburn to Colne- good luck finding one. Only problem with the cattle on the high St in Burnley is they may upset that chap there that owns a car and make his daily trip to Supercigs a bit of a drag.

The supply of Jaffa cakes for him AND his family for the next 50 years isn't to be sniffed at.

Another of the true artisans of the game to have graced the field in the stripes of SCFC. At the end of his career when he joined us , but a quaility, class player for us.
