Would have been a great scalp for them.

Never underestimate a team like Milan.
One class free kick (wasn't a foul) and a classic bit of poaching from one of the best...got to admire Milan for their comeback

The build up to the 2nd was from a free kick that never was.

would it, didn't Man U dick AC milan a season or so ago, and they are in the UEFA cup for a reason, because they weren't in the top 3-4 italian teams . Not matter how much C5 tried to dress it up early on, I really didn't expect AC to be all that, anybody would think they were playing Real Madrid, Barcelona and Man U rolled into one C5 were blowing that much smoke up Ac's arse pre-game

I thought they got jobbed.
Not just for the foul that was given to AC Milan but for the foul that Pompey was not given at the top of the area about twenty minutes prior. If there is one thing I dislike about officiating it is inconsistency.

It would still have been a huge scalp for a club of Pompey's stature though, especially given the first teamers Pompey had missing.

Yes Dave, you're probably right - Portsmouth a minute away from beating AC Milan was to be expected really...

That free kick was, in a word, incredible.

A draw against AC is not a bad result for Pompey...they just think it is because on the night they deserved it. Bet Adams would have taken 2-2 if it had been offered to him before the game.

I don't recall Man Utd ever "dicking" Milan. Roma yes.
And they aren't the top 3 or 4 because they started last season on a points deficit. (OK maybe this was 06/07!)
Come on Ilford, I thought you were honorary stato here!

the players milan have too kaka, ronaldinho, gattuso, pirlo, pato, inzaghi, zambrotta, nesta, seedorf, gillardinho to name a few. how can you say they aren't all that?

I watched that game, and just thought it showed how the millions from the premier league TV deal skewed football so much in favour of english teams , that a team with a 20,000 stadium could assemble a team that was easily able to compete with a team that is currently 2nd in Serie A , and that was the point i was trying to make in my first post . if you take it at face value , then Pompy shouldn't be able to compete with AC Milan , but in reality its not that simple, and most mid-table english prem clubs would finish in the top 3-4 in Italy ... IMHO

That point isn't made anywhere in your first post - IMHO Also, if you think most 'mid table' English Prem clubs would finish in the top 3-4 in Serie A, you're off your head.

lol smig....
Pato isn't that good (yet) Zambrotta is very slow compared to 2006. Nesta is injury prone. Inzaghi is ooooooooold, not the player he was. Gilardino, is neither Brazilian or even at Milan anymore, he signed for Fiorentina.
Milan need to desperately sign some new younger stars. Pato is a start but the 5-6 players are either past it or on the verge of retirement.

Also Dave, Fiorentina aren't quite a top 4 side in Italy, yet if I recall they outclassed Everton not so long ago.
Juventus Roma Milan Inter
These teams are similar to our 'Big 4' although there has been a break through recently with Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Udinese and Napoli to an extent. However, this was aided by the scandals of 2006.

Have to say i think Pompey were very unlucky and deserved to win.
Plus i'd love their full backs. Johnson and Belhadj have to be the most exciting pair in the prem.
