soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=596381&&cc=5739Everton have cut their ticket prices by £1 following the Government's decision to reduce VAT. Earlier this week the Chancellor Alistair Darling unveiled a series of measures in his pre-Budget report that he hopes will help to boost the ailing economy, including a VAT cut from 17.5% to 15% for 13 months. Everton officials have responded by revealing that any ticket purchased on or after Monday, December 1 for games at Goodison Park will be at a new reduced price. Acting chief executive Robert Elstone said: "We are very conscious of the economic climate and the potential for tough times ahead and felt it was right that the club go beyond the VAT impact and pass on a greater saving to the fans.'' Half-season ticket prices will also change to reflect the new rate of VAT from the start of December.

The saving would be around about 50p on a £25 ticket.

The thing is...
Just because VAT as come, it wont mean that everything will come down by 2.5% it's not going to happen, it just means that we wont see inflation rise by as much as it has been. and football match tickets aren't generally affected by inflation, because they are set at the begining of the season. You are still saving a quid on a match ticket, there is no 2 ways about it
an no buxton, i haven't cars in garage so not been able get the ground

But Middo if I've got this right (I'm not that hot with economics ) the reduction should be 50p but Everton have reduced it by a quid. So for Everton it is a saving of a quid but if they were to reduce by the drop in VAT it should only be 50p.

Bayern, I'm not that hot on it myself.
Everton are saving a quid to what they paid the previous week.
In regards to VAT cut they are saving an EXTRA 50p.
But to Everton fans it will seem like they are saving a quid! which is what my point was

That's because the fans will be saving a quid which is obvious but the original poster wasn't saying that's what Everton fans would be saving, he was saying that should be the saving at the rate VAT has dropped. So if Everton dropped the price by VAT it would be a saving of 50p but thy've dropped it at twice the rate so its a quid.

Nothing to do with what Everton have done. Think before you take the piss - You just end up looking foolish.

Just heard on Radio Stoke, something to the effect : Stoke have announced they will give 100 lads and dads strips due to tax cuts and make reductions in club shop.
That is good PR
