No.
Hull have had a bloody brilliant start, but let's face it, they've had some assistance by the Gods.
- Newcatle - won when the club was in freefall - Spurs - took advantage of Ramos' ineptitude, just like we did - Blackburn - Not brilliant, are they? - Portsmouth - Adams on the same career path as Ramos
They were brilliant against Arsenal, no question, but they have enjoyed some good fortune in this league, which to their credit they have maximised. We need to do the same and we can get amongst these. A win would put us within 2 points of Hull, who start has been lauded (quite rightly) as brilliant, and 20 points before December, with the prospect of investment to come in January as well as some obtainable points away from home could see us well on the way.
Hull are having a bit of astruggle at present, which they could well work their way out of. We need to ensure that their misery continues for a little longer....

Vestan, you could really argue the same 'out of form' arguements at our home wins
villa - off song that day, maybe not quite up and running spurs - their manager was sacked a week later Arsenal - had just undergone the 4-4 spurs debacle and have looked shaken most of the season Sunderland - can't buy a win at the moment and our game was part of that run. Keane said it was their worst performance of the season by far West Brom - 1 point in 6 games before we played them.
OK maybe my Villa arguement is pretty tenuous, and as you pointed out for any newly promoted side to beat arsenal is a fantastic achievement, but my point is really that clubs like ours are only really likely to get three points when their opposition is slightly off colour, and that it is easy to paint other sides' runs of form with luck. Opportunism more like it; they smelt blood and they made the kill, just like us. I'm not trying to undermine our achievements nor build up Hull, just trying to be a bit more objective.
Truth of the matter is that this is a very evenly matched game, and therefore both sides would be idiots to try for anything but the win.

Banksy,
I owuldn't disagree with any of your points whatsoever. My point in essence was to say that Hull's away form, whilst unquestionalbly good, has also enjoyed slices of good fortune and good timing. I absolutely agree the same could be levelled at ourselves and our current home form.
I believe however the fact remains that snaring three points over our potential relegation rivals could prove to be vital come the end of the season, and we have nothing to fear. Unlike many in this league and those who write for the popular presses, i don't think Hull are frighteningly brilliant. I expect us to prove this point on Saturday and win.

if we do what every team coming to the brit has done and think you will get 3 points for turning up hull will win
if we go about our business correctly we will win comfortably
i still think we are a better team with better players fans, and manager

We didn't wait 23 fucking years to settle for a point at home against Hull City!! Would a point be a disaster....no, it would be a valuable point. But would I take a point before the game? Not a fucking chance mate, as good as their away record may be, there is not a single team in the Premiership that will be looking forward to a visit to the Brit, and Hull City are no different.
Welcome to the Britannia....this is going to hurt!!
GOOOOOAAAAARN STOKE!

Anyone with half a brain or more would take a draw against Hull on Saturday. Yes 3 points would be great, but a point would be acceptable. A loss however ............................ I've made a note of all the names on here who won't be happy with a point, so come Sunday/Monday if we do draw or lose and people are complaining I'll expect you lot to be complaining aswell and not giving it the 'Hull have had a great start, are above us, have Geovanni etc etc etc' excuses.

This is how I see it
I would have preferred NOT to have back to back home games against our promoted counterparts, as 90 per cent of Stokies would see this as six points to be gained.
I think personally thats why the atmosphere was a bit flat on Saturday - slight trepidation
IF we dont beat Brazil, then we MUST beat Hull (not easy)
I was looking for a minimum of four points before the two games as this would keep us afloat, and keep our decent home record going
Now that Brazil have come and gone as usual I obviously want the six points, but would not be overly disappointed with a haul of four from six
Keep the board ticking over, and see what the window brings and push on from there
However - I predict we will sneak it 2-1

No. Unfortunately, I won't be there - away for a training weekend. Haven't been able to get to every game this season, but all those that I have been to (5 home, 1 away) we've won; if I hadn't missed 2 victories I'd be worried that my non-attendance this Saturday would be ominous!

I wouldn't be too unhappy with a point cos we can't keep winning but I think we can win so my answer is no!
We have got the third best home record in the Prem so this is a massively hard game for Hull I reckon they'd be happier with a point than we would

no we want 3 points. Its for Hull to loose considering they think they're capable of getting into europe (their own chairman said that, lol). 2-1 sidibe screemer and a last minute goal for them the jammy bastards. getting above hull is a good goal to aim for at the mo.

H Interesting thoughts RAF. I don't see how anyone would be "happy" with a point though. I'll settle for a point if it comes but won't be happy with it. As others have said if we don't want a win against teams like Hull at home then i'm guessing you'd take a point at home against any team bar the Baggies. With our away form that'll see us a long way short come the end of the season. Put it this way, if someone offered me a draw now and we don't play i'd say no. If we then lose on Saturday i'll still think that was the right decision. It's 3 points for a win and we're gonna need as many 3 pts at home as we can get and Hull are in the top 2 or 3 on the list of favourites. We have to go for the win ... and Rici's back so i'm very confident

I'd be tempted to say yes. Simply because they are lucky as hell. Portsmouth had one bounce down off the bar and missed two from in the 6 yd box on sat. I think their goal frame has been shaken and sitters missed against them in EVERY game. 2-0 Stoke. Fuller & Fatass OG

Trumpton, that wasn't the original question though was it. The original question was 'Would you take a point if offered now?'
It's not about being happy with it, it's about consolidation for me.
Now in the scheme of things obviously I would prefer 3 points. But I'd rather have 4 points out of two games in the bag than 3 points with no guarantees of anymore points. That was the crux of the original thread as I understood it anyway.
As it is a hypothetical question anyway, I can only hope for 3 points on Saturday, but Hull are a funny team, and anything can happen.

Hull are a very different proposition to the team we played last season and are playing well away from home... I thought we were a bit dissapointing on Saturday especially up front when Kitson went off although I don't think he'd have made that much difference had he stayed on...only goes to show how much we depend on Ricci/Mama... With a full house and Ricci back I think we'll beat Hull...it won't be easy and I will have lost my voice by half-time...but I think 2-1 Stoke... If we can beat Villa..Spurs...Arsenal...Then why not Hull? Are they really that good or have they just made a good start?
