We kept a clean sheet again yesterday but that was probably more to do with WBA not wanting to win the game.
For me Griff is the weak link in the defence, he's slow and his distribution has was again poor and he doesn't get down the line like Higgy does. Hopefully he will be replaced by Davies (If Daves is all he's cracked up to be).
If this does happen it leaves the little matter of who will be the next team captain, I suspect Griff would retain the club captain role?

I'll wait until I see Davies in action before I give Giff's place to him. But, if he does displace Griff then, as you said, I leave Griff as club captain. Higgy I think has now done enough to reclaim the team captaincy. It would have been wrong for him to get it when he first came back but he has served his time now and is assured of his place so he'd make the ideal captain.

Bloody Hell Hanson, Griff was absolutely superb yesterday . Infact I would say apart from 1 mistake (trying to be a bit cocky) he was my MOM.

Griff played quality yesterday defensively.
he even had ronaldo in his pocket all game agenst manure...but if that means hes shit, then he must be sit, Nt many right backs will give ronaldo as little room and time than griff did

It's all about opinions, as the thread so far suggests. Faye and Shawcross look solid in the middle, Higgy has been outstanding on the left (not his preferred position), so if Davies is to play then right back seems the most viable option.
Cort and Sonko are going to have to try and grab a place in the middle, as and when the chance presents itself and Dicko and Wilko will have to fight for the scraps.

Griff has been good this season. Hes coped far better with the Premier League than I or anyone expected. There's no grounds at all to drop him. He did make that one mistake to give Teixeira the ball when he wasted the chance but we'll forgive him for that.
I'm not sure he's the best captain though. Higgy seems like the leader on the pitch to me.

Griff wasnt great yesterday??? What? He was MOM apart from the one mistake? Do you people actually go to the game? bit difficult due to distance, but i watch every game, live, home and away with the benefit of skyplus type technology... look, its an opinion.. i think he's been in great form all season.. just yesterday i felt he was lacking a bit of vision

To be honest the defence as coped very well this season,(apart from man ure) we kept adebayor,Bendtnar+ van persie quiet ,, Cisse and Kenwyne quiet, Heskey + Zaki quiet , Torres and Keane ,,so Davies must wait for his opportunity,, The midfield look solid and with tonge and soares to come on or start at home we have got pace and width, with lenny still to come back,,,Mama playing out of his skin and fuller scoring, we just need adaquate cover up front,,, well im happy anyway, just my oppinion like

Another really good game bar one slip, otherwise defensively very sound. In an ideal world he would work the line a bit more but Davies won't do that anyway. Griff and Higgy have been excellent at full-back and our back four is looking capable of keeping clean sheets against most of the teams outside the top four now. Talking of Higgy, he has been absolutely top class since returning and I would hope all those who doubted him (and bizarrely wanted Dicko to start instead) will agree now as well.

Nearer the start of the season I'd have agreed with Lakeland but Griff's form's been a revelation since, and the armband's doing him and the team spirit nothing but good - to change captain at this point in the season would be insane imho. And he was fine yesterday, Alan were we watching the same game??

Yeh, barring that one blip near to the end, which could really have been catastrophic, he was solid throughout, not done anything to deserve being dropped thats for sure.

Griff fully deserves both to be in the team and also be captian,if we had to vote for player of the season so far Griff would get my vote. And to be honest i really doubted he would be good enough this season, even more so after Bolton. But he along with the team have improved since that day.

Griff has been arguably our 2nd best defender this season (behind Ab Faye). The boo boys seem to be keeping his as there scape goat due to a few poor performances last season. Hes made no major mistakes to deserve the drop, so his spot in the team is safe

Agree Griff should be captain.A couple of years down the line I think Shawcross will more than fill the captains boots.Gets better with every game
