Was just wondering if anyone who has got SC World thinks it's worth getting? Have been thinking about it for a while and am still unsure? Any opinions would be appreciated!!

The only interesting thing on there for me was the match highlights really.
Sorry to hijack your thread but a few weeks ago about half a dozen of us (NTL free membership folks) got kicked off there for no apparent reason. Did anyone bother appealing against it? I sent a couple of emails but got no reply as yet.
(The cancellation email came from premuim tv and not the club I should add)

Dom
Are you still kicked off? I signed up for my free ntl membership just before Christmas. Does it happen to all ntl users before the "free" year has completed?

I'm still kicked off yeah, the email I got said their secondary checks showed that I was ineligible, outlined the criteria again and gave me an email address to respond to if I disagreed. I doubt it has happened to all NTL freebie people but I do remember that there were several of us who got kicked out on the same day.
I'm betting on it being something to do with the NTL account being in a different name than the one I used to sign up for SCWorld but doubtless it will take months for them to get round to checking it out.

Well worth getting in my opinion.
It's a new media for football clubs and could (and should) only continue to expand and improve as a service in the coming years. At the moment it's a worthwhile service as it is for the yearly subscription cost - On the £34.99 deal you're provided with match highlights, reserve highlights, previews, analysis, interviews and the like on a daily basis.
There are still suggestions, ideas and features I'd still like to see on there in the future, amongst them if the club could pad out the current archives with goal highlights from the last ten years or so (1992/93, 1993/94, 1995/96 and 1998/99 review videos were sold to us via the shop - although we're possibly talking bandwidth and server size here to get them online?)
If this could be done then the media department would be on to an even greater winning service. Right now though I'd still recommend SCWorld as it is.

Gareth, are you on commission? ;D
Let's face it, you're not going to get any other sort of visual media coverage in the same amount of detail - not even if Stoke get into the Prem.. It's not brilliant, but how else can you get close up interviews with Stoke players and Triffic Tone on a regular basis - even if the questions and answers are often predictable and inane? Up until SCW you didn't really have access to anything else that was Stoke-related on a regular basis via the telly. The highlights are always good to watch, too.

as an exile I signed up for it almost straight away, I also managed to wangle a free years subscription when I signed up for NTL broadband.
however when my current subscription runs out I will not be renewing the FULL HIGHLIGHTS package @ £34.99........ I'll go for the commentry only one at £19.99
I can see the goals within a few hours of final whistle on Skysports News, and the quality is VASTLY superiour to that of the footage on SCWORLD, in fact I rarely use watch any thing on it, using it just for commentry.

Id like to have SC world but cant afford that or broadband.
I think its wrong having to pay for something that used to be free.

Dazasson,
It was only ever given free as an inducement for people to get to know it and, hopefully, pay for it in the future.
Why on earth should the club go to the cost of giving away something like free commentary on their games?
Find me any examples of one other club, in any sport, who give away free commentaries of their games - they'll be very few and far between, I can assure you of that.
Anyway, the fact of the matter is that Stoke City couldn't give away free commenatry of their games even if they wanted to. They are bound to a Football League agreement which ties them into a deal with NTL and they now have to charge for it.
Cheers,
Smudge
