The considered lack of movement of players in worries me already. We should have a couple in by now even by the 3rd - what have we been doing since August? What the hierarchy down seem to realize is that the supporters need to know the club is doing something not just saying! I can see us doing the same as before at it does not work !!

A bit early to be getting worked up TBH - Has anybody signed anyone at all yet???
The fact that we have got all our loan players sorted out well in advance this time around implies that we have at least learned some lessons from the past and is a cause for optimism. Whether all of the lessons have been learned has yet to be seen but I really don't think you should be panicking this early on!

It doesn't take much to get me worried - but our failure to get anyone in early doors, coupled with TP's rather arsey 'let's talk about the players that are here, Nige' attitude has got me a touch jittery.
Too early to get too stressed, and hopefully fears will br allayed in the next 7-10 days.

I put this on Si's thread.
As head cynic and a high ranking PHW on this board, I'm already beginning to smell an odour of bad karma. When Hoofers was tapped up and some of us questioned why it was allowed to happen, Coates said..."everybody does it." Well, it looks like everybody except Stoke. Why haven't we tapped the buggers up ages ago? And no, I'm not reknowned for my patience, especially when I've seen what they've done in the past. Already a number of deals have gone through at other clubs. Are we [once again] waiting for players to prostitute themselves to the highest bidders and picking up the scraps? ???
OS.

Optimistic head on. I'm quietly confident that:
a) Not including Pugh and Cort, there will be at least three or four players coming in this month. b) Most, if not all of them have not been mentioned in all the speculation so far.
No inside track on this, just a feeling based on what's been said during the first half of the season, and what's happened during previous transfer windows.

Unfortunately though, all of the players linked with us over the past few weeks are now linked with other clubs. We may well be left lamenting the fact that we did not act sooner.
Quashie, Whalley, Earnshaw, Routledge have all now been linked to other clubs, with specific fees being mentioned.
I've heard nothing about Mendez, but it's surley a matter of time, as is also true of Whealan.
We don't seem to learn at all do we????

As a lieutenant in the ranks of the PHW battalion, I also admit to being worried that we will not see much more transfer activity than securing Cort and Pugh on permanent deals, with maybe a cheeky attempt at a couple of loans from the Prem later in the month.
I hope I'm wrong as we need, at the very least, another central midfielder and a pacey winger, with a right back and extra striker not too far behind in being required. We are incredibly short of numbers (of actual quality) and injuries to or suspensions of key personnel will leave us with few options but to play sub-standard squad players.

I'm feeling really left out now as I'm sure I'm a member of the PHW however I don't seem to have a rank. I'm not saying I am as worthy as Jezza and OS but I'm feeling a bit of a side salad at present. ;D

I have a feeling that one or two players will be brought in today. I don't know who and I live 150 miles from the Brit, so I haven't seen someone talking to TP or Rudgey, it just a funny feeling

pjbo....I often get funny feelings but they're never to do with Stoke. Are you sidekick or summat? Si, you're promoted as Baldric from this day forth....faithful servant of the clever PHW from Jersey. "Have you ever been to Wales, Baldrick?" "No, but I've often thought I'd like to." "Well don't, it's a ghastly place. Huge gangs of tough sinewy men roam the valleys terrifying people with their close harmony singing. You need half a pint of phlegm in your throat just to pronounce the placenames. Never ask for directions in Wales Baldrick, you'll be washing spit out of your hair for a fortnight." OS.

I’m confident we’ll do some business at the back and in midfield but the thing that worries me most is that we will not bring in a striker whilst the two P’s, Podgy and Pathetic remain at the club.

I am REALLY trying to be good, be positive and not moan but as I recall posting during the last 4-5 transfer windows that Mr Pulis has been involved in "As George Santayana warned "those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it"
I worry that: Pulis has too small a pool of potential signings. I would also question his desire to improve the quality of the squad because: he only knows one way to play, his primary qualities in a wide midfielder aren't pace & flair but an ability to track back and cover the full backs. He wouldn't sacrifice the central midfield defensive screen for creativity or the ability to get forward -too much chance of getting caught out of position. I also think he will persist with Pericard/Parkin due to his stubborness. I hope I'm wrong - I see and hear positive things but then he seems to take us back to square one.
I guess we will find out for sure in the next 3-4 weeks whether he is the man to take us forward. One thing is certain if we stand still others -QPR/Palace etc - will overtake us.

Personally I'm bracing myself for no permanent transfer activity this month (other than Pugh and Cort of course).
Hopefully I'll be proved wrong, but I'm not holding my breath.

No meths on a work day OS, just my usual, cheery, happy go lucky self I'm certain a replacement for Wright will be brought in whether it's needed or not Dave. edit: just noticed you said permanent. Maybe then

Dave, I think we're all hoping to be proved wrong. Whatever our opinions, the one that counts is that we all want Stoke to progress. Some may not see our remarks that way but they would be wrong. Like 'Godo' says,.... Surely to God that won't happen....will it? Bloody hell, I hope not! M.

I agree with Davef, I think uncle Peter will go for it however. I just think it will be in the form of wages rather than big fees and wages. Where we are in the league means that we've not got the time to buy a potential Gem like Whelan etc... we need tried and tested result getters. That all cost big wages and if you link a transfer fee in too it'll be extra costly if we don't make it. I'd settle for Hoolahan and a couple of loanees.

the lack of transfer activity surprises me not 1 bit. I mentioned at the start of the season that PC (and possibly TP 's) agenda involves us getting the requisite number of points so we don't get relegated and then we can "push on" next season and so on....i remain as i stated before to be proved wrong. However. i am old enough to remember all this from before from Coates. Pulis said Uncle Peter had 4 million quid to give him - when will it be spent, how and on who ?

The players will be in very soon - don't fret
I'm guessing a midfielder, winger and possibly a goalie
Be nice to have another striker too - though quality players will expect to start - mamas place will be available next week
No rush for this week if Ricardo is back
