I can't 'prove' anything. It's about opinions. I base those opinions on the fact that he proved so many people wrong last season when 'everyone' was up in arms at his loan signing and then had to eat their words when he proved them wrong with the goals he scored in this league. I'm also not wrong when I say that only a briliant reflex save yesterday stopped him from scoring.
Of course, you're right when you accuse him of being unprofessional. He is, but that doesn't make him a league three player because even in league three, players need to be professional. At the moment, he is not deserving of playing for any team and that includes a Sunday League side. The bloke needs to sort himself out or get out of football. That would be a shame though because he does have natural goalscoring talent and that is a rare commodity in players.

I'm with Old Stokie and MrMagic on this one as well.
Parkin was one of the few who actually got the ball down (usually from around his throat) and passed it to a stoke player. Eustace could do do with taking some passing lessons from Parkin.
The problem is as already mentioned the style of play is not suited to Parkin, and I feel that when Mama goes to Africa we can see Parkin contribute what he did last season when he and Fuller played up front.
Parking got no assistance from Mama and no service from hios colleagues, and was still unfortunate not to score

Parkin obviously has a football brain, but is unable to get fit. Two people are to blame for this, and that's first off all Parkin. It's incredibly unprofessional not being able to do something with his weight. A healthy dieat combined with a fitness program should have done wonders within a month or two. But also TP is to blame for allowing Parkin to continue to stay unfit. Stoke doesn't have many good strikers at the moment and letting Parkin look like (and play) like Mr Wobbly in a lunar suit is unforgivable.

I agree that he appears at times to be a natural footballer, but obviously he has much more affinity for pork scratchings. What this side needs (amongst other things) is a player like Mama who can score, and I think maybe Parkin was a gamble to be that man if we could get him fit. However 6 months after signing him there is no sign of that happening. If we'd not had him on loan and then had Hull take him back like that we could've got him for practically nothing, but the way it turned out we had our pants pulled down over his price and should probably have told them to go to hell.
What is there left now? We have to pay him unless someone comes in for him, he might be useful to keep around on the bench as an impact player 'til then. Until then I think we should dock his wages and use the cash to send him to boot-camp for gluttons.

Parkin's fitness is disgraceful. He has the ability, but sadly it appears not the temperament, to be a very good professional footballer.
We need to get rid and move on. He has had his chance to put the effort in and claim a regular spot up front with Rico in place of the misfiring Mama, and failed miserably to show the required level of commitment.
We need to use his wages to pay a left winger so the whole-hearted Cresswell can claim his rightful place up front.

Parkin also started the home games against Barnsley & Sheff Wednesday. Can't remember how he did against Wednesday but i can remember his woeful performance against Barnsley. Both of those games played alongside Fuller i might add.

Mama and Parkin were both at the far post and BOTH missed the ball. I remember the incident well. However, it was only Sidibe who was too far out and far too slow at the back post. Parkin, in actual fact was in the middle ground between the penalty spot and the edge of the area - no doubt unable a make a run one-tenth the distance of that which Wright had undertaken to try and get on the end of the cross. I specifically pointed this out to the friends I was sitting with when it happened. And just to add to the general theme of this thread, I thought Parkin was utterly woeful throughout the game. It's horrifying to think he makes his living out of playing football. Sure, some of the high balls were not helpful to him (as, along with an elephant, Jon Parkin is the only other mammal which can't jump!) but even when it arrived to him along the ground he still mis-controlled the ball more times than I could care to remember. "Feed the Beast and he will score"? Unfortunately, I think far too many people have been feeding this lad throughout his adult life! I didn't really have the best of views for it, I don't know if yours was better, I could just make out Wright, Parkin and Sidibe all across the face of the goal and the ball going straight past all 3 of them.
