"If downing plays for england so can i"
is now one of my favourite songs. I hate downing anway and think he is very over-rated. If he was right footed there would be no where near as much hype about him.
Also the fact that they worship him up there made it even funnier. We were brilliant today as fans, well done to everyone who went, and im sure your throats are all as sore as mine!

Didn't hear that Bread Song but i was on row 9. Definately one for the future. Just totally random, and will totally confuse the opposition

Even Robert Huth was applauding us after the game. Unsurprisingly, Downing wasn't ;D
Great atmosphere today, and chatting to some sound Boro fans when walking back to the station

the "if downing plays for england so could i" song was brilliant He was basically crying after the penalty wasn't he, we got it going early in the first half down at the front when he came down to the back post and then it started snowballing until everyone was singing it. Brilliant, it was up there with naa naa naaa na na na naaaaaaaaaa welsh cunts at Cardiff last year. Today was brilliant despite the result had a good laugh.

I watched on Setanta at 4pm EST today. The commentator mentioned how great the Stokies were several times.
The atmosphere created was top drawer. Great fucking job all of you who were there. It sounded fucking brilliant!!! ;D

As I was leaving the ground a Boro fan passing me said to me "top support, keep your heads up"
Support like that from the home fans is something of a rareity, it would seem, judging by the article in the matchday programme.

A Boro fan on their local radio was praising us Stokies. The support was excellent and we've set a standard over the first three games that needs to be replicated throughout the season.

One of the reasons for the support was that genuine fans managed to get tickets and travel
Next time against liverpool we will see especially as I have heard on the grapevine that Stoke will not take up the full allocation for fear of not selling out, I for one do not belive that The present Stoke board are that short sighted But who makes this decision I don't know

Having read the obligitory "Why aren't we taking 5000?!" post of last week, I have to tell ya that - as far as watching live on the telly was concerned - you wouldn't have know there wasn't 5000 Stokies present. At times it was difficult to believe it was us singing and not 'boro.
If we can keep that up and keep the belief - and translate it to our home games as well - then the 12th man really might nick us a few points.
From what I've read, we even managed to behave in the face of much provocation from Middlesborough's finest, so massive congratulations to all those who managed to make it up there and represent us. A real credit to the club yesterday, well done all.

I'm not sure about this 'genuine fans' business..remember over the last 10 years at the Brit we only averaged 13,000 per-game and had some tiny away followings...there's no doubt that some of these 'genuine fans' have suddenly appeared out of nowhere..
But that is totally irrelevant..would anyone really want to go back to the 'genuine fan' only days of 9,000 against Cardiff at The Brit in a freezing cold evening match..or the dozens and dozens of games where you could hear a pin drop...where there was absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever?
Compare that to the Bristol..Leicester..Villa and Boro games where the Stokies were absolutely brilliant...
I don't know where the extra 10,000 have come from and I don't particularly care..but I have hardly ever, in 35 years of supporting Stoke eperienced the atmosphere of the last half a dozen games
It is awesome and it MUST continue..staying-up WILL be a battle but if we carry on or even increase the passion factor against Everton, with singing ALL ROUND the ground,..including the JSU then surely we can do it
Once again..we were AWESOME yesterday
Bless Em All
Bless Em All
The Long And The Short And The Tall
Bless All The People Who Wear Red And White
Etc etc
GGGOOOAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNNNN STOKE!!!

I made the trip upto Boro yesterday and came away with immense pride for the way the team and the fans really gave it a go.
I've been watching the lads for 40 odd years now and yesterday was a reminder of why I love Stoke and the fans so much.
We're a proper football club, we've got history, we've got tradition and we've got pride in our club by the bucket load.
Not for us the johnny come lately, corporate lard arse, sanitised, sit in silence match days.
There's a real bond between us lads on the terraces and the lads on the pitch. There was 2000 of us in the stands and 10 on the pitch giving it everything we'd got for the cause. That's what football is all about.
Thanks to each and everyone of you who was there yesterday, you did us proud.
A special mention to whoever came up with the Downing ditty, a stroke of pure genius, I'm still singing it now!

I should have known it was someone of your calibre Fish, you and your rapier like wit! It was funny how it slowly built up from a few singing it to the whole of the Stoke mob. I noticed when we were it giving it the fully monty it suddenly dawned on the Boro fans what we were singing, even some of them started to laugh at it, especially after he missed the penalty (something you would never have done at the YMCA on a monday night Fish!! ) Well done that man!

Live TV game next - let's hope we can all rise to the occasion.
Although, the Villa game had a great atmosphere, there we too many periods of lull - particularly evident on MOTD.
Let's keep the noise going for 90 mins.
If it starts to go quiet then 'Tony Pulis' Barmy Army' should start. AND keep it going, don't speed it up.

Like I said before, pure genius on your part!

Just totally random, and will totally confuse the opposition I was on row9 and the guys i heard singin the bread song were on row 4 so i could here them? The Downing song was awesome, and great atmoshere throughout the game. Im not bothered where these 10,000 extra fans come from at home games as long as they join in with the singing.

We sung "If David James can play for England so can I" at a particularly memorable midweek away game against West Sham several years ago. We won one nil, and it started that great run to keep us up. Should be brought out again for the Pompey matches
