I'm really worried about what would happen if we stuck to the same system but without Mama, we were crap with Beast trying to do the same job.

jarhead, I wasn't there but I'm not disputing he had a bad game today. I was at the West Brom game though and thought he was great that day.
Can someone who went say if that was Mama not delivering or if Barnsley got wise to our system and stopped him winning balls?

Mama was average today. Didn't do much, the defence seemed to have him covered. I still think he's a crucial member of the team though!

dom you say sidibe was average?? id say damn right pathetic. that was a truely awful display by him, no movement, no challenging, no jumping. he was shit. how he is in this starting 11 is beyond me, then again we have the dicks with their sidibe fanclub wanting him for president!

A bit harsh Jarhead, the bloke is so important to the team, he causes defencesa all sorts of problems and he sets up so many goals. Did you see the pass that led to Fuller's first on Saturday?
That's what he is in the team for and he had an off day!
Stop having digs at the players, it is a team effort, and we're 3rd, so how about getting behind them?

|
|
Post by kingdeano on Dec 26, 2007 21:30:25 GMT
we are getting behind the lads like today at barnsley, but unfortunatly only 9 decided give anything back to the fans today, simmo and sidibe were awful. i dont think sidibe is causing half the problems he as done for the past two years, that hold up play and link up as gone this year. before hes missed chances, but now he isnt even getting in positions very often. today he had one great chance which he somehow managed glance wide from 6 yards!! i cant see how he deserves his place. by the way sidibe for president! president of what exactly?? the local retard foundation!

Kingdeano the president thing is a joke, don't take it too seriously.
He is a good player who had an off day, I don't think he wanted to play crap did he, he gives his all to the team, and even Wayne Rooney has his off days, doesn't make him shit though does it?

think their might be a slight difference between rooney and sid tho dom lol, my opinion is that hes lost his way big time, whether it be the mali situation i dont know but he certainly needs taking out the team, we are relying too much on fuller, soon it will be easy work out, kick fuller off the pitch! we need a plan B just incase fuller is taken out the game, and plan B surely has to involve a striker scoring for us

I can't see TP expecting Parkin to play the Sidibe role...it would be like asking Rik Waller to do the great North Run.
Cresswell up-front, Pugh to left-mid and Dicko in at left back would be the best solution from the current squad, but it shows how thin on the ground we are.
A goalscoring version of Sidibe arriving in January would be the answer to all our prayers. (I hear drogba's for off...)

better still steve howard! he knows the league inside out, holds the ball up and scores goals. ideal replacement.

I'm not a fan - never have been, but by some crazy twist of logic, in the past we always seemed to play better as a team with him in it. Can't explain it really, but IMHO surely now is not the time to tamper with the tried and tested.

Or Plan B play Cresswell a natural forward that scores up with Fuller! Simple innit!
Howard good shout KD he knows this league and is a genuine threat where it matters.
SIDIBE OUT

cressy up with fuller, demar on left and give it a go! demar is a unknown player to the league, what people say his pace and dribbling skills are outstanding in the reserves, yes its a big step up but chance it, after all weve chanced 25 games hoping spaz boy will score

Sidibe is a genuine threat, he played very well against WBA, he's had one off game kingdeano.
You can't just drop a player because he has one poor game!

Post by kingdeano on Dec 26, 2007 22:10:23 GMT
it isnt one poor game dom, i cant remember the last good game! its 25 games no goals, i cant defend the bloke anymore, hes had his chance now get him out

Post by kingdeano on Dec 26, 2007 22:19:15 GMT
ill be happy too, but i cant see us finishing in the top 3 unless we sort the problems out with fullers partner. we cant rely on fuller, yes lawrence got 3 today but for us to finish top 3 we have got have another striker scoring for us.

Correct Deano and even if Misibe chipped in with 5 to 10 goals from now on then that would do for me as it would ease the pressure on Fuller to always having to score.
Our second striker has got to be getting his fair share,to date though its getting embarrasing as he has NONE!!!
His worth to the team is in decline, sorry.

Don't think goals are our problem. Disregarding West Brom we have the best GD in the league (equal to Watford). Jarhead and Deano obviously don't get the plot. SIBIDE FOR PRESIDENT #42

deano, jarhead, to be fair you've got a point about Mama being less of a threat and an influence than this time last year. Like I say this would look so different if he was in danger of scoring. But actually, is he getting in as many scoring positions than he used to, is that to do with his role being changed a bit?
I admit I might be defending the guy too much, because I really admire his attitude and character, but we genuinely do better when he's in the side.

Ok, Sidibe doesnt score goals and thats a major fault but you cant hide the fact that Stoke dont seem to perform without him. Sidibe is involved in most of Stokes link up play and is genuinely missed when not in the side. The goals are coming from other areas of the team so we arnt just reliable on Fuller. My philosophy is "If it aint broke dont try to fix it", And at the moment it aint broke.

With Sidibe:
P 18 Pts 34 Pts per game = 1.89*
Without Sidibe:
P 6 Pts 7 Pts per game = 1.17
(*Our average pts per game for the season = 1.71)
Is any further proof required of his effectiveness?

It's because he seems so necessary that I resent him so much. His inclusion in the team encourages a poor style of football, and without him, SuperTone persists with the same system but with Parkin who evidently cannot play that role.
Several people scoff when suggested that he be played as a midfielder, but he damn well ain't a striker!
Sidibegod is right though, we're scoring enough at the moment, but if Fuller gets injured we're fucked, I'd rather have Cressie up front as well so they get used to one another- because they could be slotting them in left right and centre if the service from Mama was still there from just behind... But that would mean dropping Diao, who is just too good to not play, and putting Demar on the left which is a bit of a gamble (but worth it if it means a winger actually on the wing for a change).
