There would be no point spending £7M on Zigic without having two wingers who could put the ball on his head. Delaps long throws with a decent winger supplying crosses as well he could be deadly.

agreed. But I think we need a left winger in first, before speding maybe all our remaining money on him or a similar player to have limited service. Unfortunately, the Zigic deal is all but dead, interestingly, TP never said that about Charisteas

Charisteas is just a hard-working big lump though, isn't he? Granted, of better pedigree than most of the hard-working big lumps we've been linked with in the last 2 decades - but still a hard-working big lump with a patchy goalscoring record and of dubious quality on the floor.
He may well work his balls off and be a big threat in the air.
But in choosing the word 'exciting', you just get the impression Spinks is hinting at a different, more exotic kind of striker?
Mind you, the evidence of our striker chasing so far this summer does indicate he is after a big targetman, so maybe that is reading too much into Spinks' choice of words.

It is quite worrying that a new winger has not been mentioned at all. Does this indicate that TP is satisfied with Cresswell, or another member of the current squad playing there?
Surely this must be a priority as we have cover up front, albeit cover lacking the quality required.

David Sullivan said on sky sports that it would take £15mill to get McFadden or Larsson.

I thought Sullivan had nothing to do with Brum these days.

Like I said earlier - don't get sucked in by the exciting tag. I'm well dubious about that particular comment.

David Sullivan said on sky sports that it would take £15mill to get McFadden or Larsson. I wouldnt pay £15 million for the pair of em. Now Brum have gone down so does the value of the players that combined to get em there. Mcfadden is worth 3- 4 mill max. Larsson I would say 2.5 million max. How about McSheffrey? Worth a punt at 3 mill? SGS

www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=824862 The agent of that Egyptian striker who nearly went to Bristol City claims there's renewed English interest. He's certainly got a good goalscoring record, and would come relatively cheap. And he seems the type to get labelled 'exciting'? The Egyptian that Wigan have signed from the same league looks excellent.

This exciting tag is so subjective though. I mean, Pericard coming on can be exciting in so much as he'll probably do something hilarious and that is exciting in itself. Doesn't necessarily mean he's good though.

I don't think McFadden is a good signing, but I got a feeling it will be him. Particularly with his comments that he wants to play out of scotland and he does no if he will still be at brum at the end of the month.

As much as I hate Jocks, McFadden would be a VERY good signing. There's more chance of losing to Fail than signing him though.

I think (not hope) that David Healy would be more realisitic than McFadden, and probably most other names suggested

I don't think Spinks would call Healy 'exciting'.
He hasn't done anything 'exciting' at league level ever, has he?
I just get the impression Spinks is hinting at a foreigner who's a bit off the beaten track?

Well leading goalscorer in Euro 08 qualifiers could be deemed as quite exciting!!!
I think we are all getting a bit hung up on this word 'exciting' , they are going to try and be as positive as they can after the Bolton defeat, they aren't going to say we are chasing a distinctly average striker are they.

i would be happy with Mcfadden, very happy, just what we need, can pick the ball up 30 yards out and make something happen.

I'd be excited about Healy if we changed our kit to green, relocated to Belfast and started playing Spain and England He's like a different player for anyone else though, isn't he? You could be right that we're attaching too much significance to Spinks' 'exciting' tag - but I do think it's probably quite significant. From that word, I'm just picking up vibes of a player who's under-the-radar, and not that well-known, as a possible gamble from abroad

We have been linked with exciting players, Zigic, Milito, Garcia, Walcott (previously), how many have signed?
So far I think we have made very good signings, we need more, but I trust TP to bring the right people in, so if he thought someone like Healy was right, I would trust him to get the best out of him.

"exciting" - could mean it someone who juggles grenades as runs towards goal. Could mean anything, I would certainly take from that though the "off the beaten track" theory, wouldnt think a promising youngster would be a Pulis type signing though. I just cant see him "puling" a rabbit out of the hat on this, you know we are going to get an "aaaard worker".

Could be Joey Barton - he's exciting, if you like a good courtroom drama... edit: ok so he's a midfielder. I'll never get the hang of this foodball lark
