Why does he love the club and the area so much?? (i know he still lives down south some of the week), but the abuse he gets/got you would think he would love to look for a way out, but he doesnt.
Seems to me quite a few of the players seem to really like the area and the people.

In a word potential.
There aren't too many clubs who have the potential to become MUCH bigger than they currently are, Stoke do have the potential to be a big club.
TP and Stoke are very good for each other imo Stoke is the perfect vehicle for his managerial skills and we need someone with TPs skills to help us thrive

I really think he just wants to prove to himself and his many critics that he can do the job he set out to do when he first came here.
He has what certainly on recent evidence has the full backing of his chairman and the 100% backing of his players and staff.
At this moment in time he loves this job and is trying his best to win over a more than sceptical support.
Just exactly how much that will be returned will have to wait until may.

He thinks we're triffic There aren't too many clubs with potential where he could have got away with the early dross whilst he built up the side. We are easily pleased! ...and he has full the backing of PC

He loves the working class, parochial nature of the area and it reminds him of growing up in South Wales.
Moreover, he is fiercely ambitious for himself and the club - he would love to take us back to the big time.
Thankfully he is thick skinned and stubborn - admirable qualities - and he realises anyway that the criticism comes from a small but vociferous minority.

He doesn't love us, he hates us.
He is trying to destroy Stoke City FC, once his evil plan is complete he'll morph into a bat and fly away.

Ian, Pulis is one of the least ambitious individuals I've ever encountered. No one with ambition sends a side out to play 4-5-1 at home against a poor Barnsley side that shipped 52 goals already, and subsequently loses 0-1.
Pulis "loves" Stoke because: 1. We offered him a job after 2 years in the footballing wilderness which he took despte being second choice. 2. We pay him a large salary, far more than he could do in any other walk of life seeing he has limited skills to be employed elsewhere. 3. He has the best ever chance of managing at the top flight because he has a Chairman who is prepared to spunk away more money than most and remain patient with poor results longer than most. His Chairman rates him far higher than his average career and limited abilities merit. Who wouldn't want to work in that cosy situation?
If a "bigger" club came in and offered him more money on the basis of the current league position and not the overall "experience and long term effect", he'd be off like a shot and we'd soon see how much he loves Stoke City.

Agreed AndyP - He loves us because we are the best he's likely to get. Tony looks after Tony - Even his mate Lindsay has said that.
Welcome Ian - I've missed your utter garbage, and the vociferous minority quote. I'd give you some Karma as a christmas gift, but I've just used my chance up on someone else. Maybe later.

How about, in spite of everyone's self-esteem problems with S-o-T, that this is a bloody nice place with bloody nice people, and once somebody wins our friendship and respect they've usually got it for life?

It is because we have the best barber in the world, the place to be on a saturday when Stoke are at home. Sorry thats Ian... then again it could be that we all love Young Anthony and Lewis, his better half, Buxton. ..

Well thank goodness he did come. Not for him bottling out after watching the useless mercenaries wearing the shirt lose again at home. No, he drove over 200 miles in the middle of the night to take the job.
If limited abilities are keeping that team up, progressing the club year on year, making the club a small fortune in the transfer market and putting us in the promotion race this season, then I will take them over the under-achieving, media friendly managers currently out of work or languishing in the wrong half of the table. No doubt all characters that the hate squad would want here in preference to TP.
See you tomorrow Andy.

I think the fact that he's been here a few years now adds to his feeling at home here. He knows the club inside out and his two periods in charge are longer than many managers'.
The job's a big challenge but potentially achievable considering the lack of quality in the league. I don't think he could have another job in which he'd get the same support from the chairman and churn out the same type of football.
I think it would be fair to say that his main priorities are Tony Pulis, Peter Coates and Stoke City. If he does love the club so much, I wish over the years he'd offered the academy a little more support.

Ian - would it be possible for you to make a comment that reflects your support of the manager without snyping and using the phrases "Hate Squad", and "Vociferous Minority"?
It's wearing a bit thin matey.
