MCF, I bow to your persuasive arguments.
I admit I am hating having spent loads on flights and hotel to go to Plymouth over Crimbo, I am hating having spent loads on flights and hire car to go to watch us at Wolves and at home to Southampton in February.
Why do I do it to myself? Just in case, on the off chance, I get to see us lose so I can spout vitriol at Our Glorious Leader or because, just perhaps, I can see the club I have loved man and boy finally, at long last, on the triumphant march to return to where we belong after 22 long and painful years?
Give it up - we all love Stoke, it is just some of us like our current manager less than others do.

I completely fail to understand the purpose of the original thread.
It appears to begin as a criticism of 'points scoring' and then chunters along as a vitriolic monologue doing exactly that.
We then recieve the accusation that all Pulis haters expect Pulis to 'ruin our football club' and achieve nothing, while following it up with a disclaimer that actually, we might not achieve anything.

The purpose goes as follows:
On other threads, there is a notion that Rimmers were involved in 'I told you so' threads. I don't believe this is the case. The Rimmers never made any grand claims about Pulis and so we can't say 'I told you so' as we only said, 'Wait and see' and argued against the utter bollocks that was spouted as the Haters argued that he would kill the club.
Ridiculing a few Haters along the way is good fun as well.
Like those who said we were only involved in binary football, that Pulis teams couldn't come from behind, that good players wouldn't want to come here, that Liam Lawrence is a right back....etc etc
We might not get promotion but that won't necessarily make him a bad manager or the wrong choice as people need to be realistic about what can be achieved.
Its quite amusing to see how they expected nothing better than midtable garbage but tend to see anything less than promotion as abject failure.

I think you are a very angry and unhappy young man who needs some kind of councelling. ;D I will hold my hands up and admit my dislike to our current Manager and absolute hatred of our chairman. I will also say that at present, they have both performed over and above my personal expectations. I'm just praying that more investnment is made in January and our momentum continues into the New Year and we're in the playoffs come the end of the season. We are not far behind where we were this time last year so let's not get too excited just yet, however, Mr Pulis has worked wonders so far. Let's hope he can continue. ps. Leave the councelling until after the festive period. |
