One thing I don't think any one has said yet is, as Hoefkens was contracted to Stoke city why was his agent talking to West Brom without Stoke City's permission? As a contracted player he has no right for himself or any person representing him to talk to any other football club or any club has no right to talk to him or his agents.

He left a squad that had had a good season, but was about to fall apart due to the nature in which it was assembled, to a club full of quality players who had actually made the playoffs and were and still are good bets to go up.

I shall clap politely. Didn't want him to go and still don't believe the "official" reasons for his leaving. Do any of you really think the club were going to admit that they didn't make him a decent offer to stay? If you want to have a go at anybody, how about his agent? How else would he find out what WBA were prepared to offer? Otherwise, why didn't SCFC complain to the League about 'tapping up'? Coates was more than happy to trouser the cash!

'He should be booed like no ex stokie has ever been booed before!
The money grabbing judas! '
Yes because no other person in any walk of life has ever left to take up a similar position doing the same thing for a vast amount of extra money!!!!
I take it you're rather thick to put it mildly

He his a money grabber, he got offered 10k to go play for wba, and he was on 3k here, come back and said he wanted that offer matched for him stay.
Again more utter crap on this board by people who make things up or do not put their brains into gear before gobbing off. Might I remind you that Carl did not want to leave, end of. He was not on £3,000 a week,he was signed by Bossie and I think his wages were a result of Pulis getting rid of him. I would think the Baggies paid him what he was earning with Stoke. He was a great guy and a good servant for Stoke,I for one was sorry to see squeezed out.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JUDAS JUDAS JUDAS he didn't have to leave did he, instead he left for that scum, and yet most stokies still love him wankkers Not particularly interesting comment. It seems to me that he had no option but to leave. There were numerous incidents that suggested that the Messiah also known as Tony Pulis was not interested in Carl. If you are not wanted you move on and ply your trade somewhere else. This talk about Judas is just ignorant rubbish, but if you want to live in a make believe world just continue. What exactly was Judas to have done?

He did well for us for a couple of years and left for a big pay rise and it seems our manager wasn't too fussed about keeping him. Big deal thats football it happens.
Not deserving of boos IMHO.

He's a cunt.
He wanted to leave, and he did.
He engineered the move himself.

I haven't said Pulis forced him out though have I?
My opinion is that TP wasn't really that committed to keeping Hoofers, wanted his own type of player at the club and the money from a transfer to strengthen his squad.
You're claiming Hoofers engineered a move. Prove it.

My opinion is that Hoofers engineered a move.
Mainly by having his agent speak to West Brom without Stoke City's knowledge.

I think it's ridiculous to suggest Hoefkens engineered the move. Technically 'illegal' chats with 3rd parties go on all the time and are completely routine.
Pulis clearly didn't see Hoefkens as a long-term member of his squad (Kiddiegate, the laughable 'bigging-up' of Griffin's RB display at Barnsley as one of the greatest he'd seen, water bottle throwing, Club Bruges etc) and there was little movement on a new deal.
No-one's suggesting Pulis hated him, but he was clearly uneasy with Hoefkens' game. That's his call, he's the manager.
In the circumstances, the prospect of a 3-yr deal on 2 1/2 times his Stoke salary would be unturndownable to a pro coming up to his late 20s.

to be honest, you cant blame the guy for taking a 7k increase, but i think it was the manner in which he did it that pissed people off. the guy walked into to contract talks with scholes demanding that stoke matched the offer from wba, if i did that i would be dismissed!!! also it was all the crap he came out with about loving stoke and wanting to stay, but then just leaving a few days after saying that.
I won't boo hoefkens as he was a god player for stoke, but i wont applaud him either as he is a bloody hypocrite.
